It would be RPG/Squad RTS with either a futuristic or a steampunk style and a heavy emphasis on small guns, melee weapons and close combat.

Combat should be fast paced with combos and finishing moves and well balanced between classes. Each class should be unique(unique moves, weapons, combos, and fighting styles). There also should be multiple classes, each with their own role in the battlefield. And a well balanced multiplayer is a must.

Decisions should have far streching consequences and they should effect the story a lot and how it would end so you would have multiple endings.

Thanks, since you seem interested here's some extra stuff.

The main character would be the only diabetic one. Maybe one his friends would be too, I haven't really worked out the characters yet.

The dream world would just be awesome though. Imagine a candy-land smurf valley being taken over by the mind of Lovecraft. A little "peeps" bunny runs up to you and shouts "Mister, Mister! You gotta save us!" Out of the ground like a thresher maw a creature rises up behind it roaring as it opens up it's greasy four fold mouth. Enraged it strikes both you and the creature consuming you in its mouth. Once inside in total darkness you see a light, and then more lights. The innards of the creature are filled with glowing eyes that watch you. "but why!" You scream as your suspension of disbelief is pierced. I'll tell you why. It's because it doesn't need meat to live. It needs pain. Endless amounts of pain constantly being observed as you are tortured, butchered, and mutilated in the heart of evil.

Your character may have insomnia.

Something based on standard survival horror, except the protagonist is a creepy little girl with strange powers who was tortured and experimented on by some scientists (or something) and she goes around trying to get her revenge.
Also possibly an RTS with a similar story and a girl who can mind control the enemy soldiers.

GTA/sin-city style MMO.
some adventure game with a strong emphasis on photography and treasure hunting. me and my friend thought of that for a game design project we were on.

Well, like all gamers I have a lot of differant ideas that I think would make for awesome ideas. None of which would fly of course, for reasons people have pointed out time and time again. I think The Escapist did an article called "your game idea sucks" or something like that, which pointed out the sad realities of the game industry in this regards.

As much as I love RPGs, and MMORPGs, chances are if I ever became a billionaire and was to helm the production of a game, I would probably sit down and try and create a sandbox horror game. I've mentioned this before. The idea occured to me with all of these sandbox crime games where people run around doing horrible things, and terrorizing the civilian population. I mean in Grand Theft Auto, a common way to make money is to hide in alleyways and kill passers by (especially hookers) with knives, in hopes that you'll get one that will drop a couple hundred dollars.

I really liked 1980s/early 1990s horror movies, where we had iconic franchises like "Friday The 13th" and "Nightmare On Elm Street" to name the most enduring ones, not to mention numerous stand alone productions. This lead to people sitting there wondering who would win a battle between their favorite horror movie bad guys... something which even eventually inspired a "Freddy Vs. Jason movie".

I sort of had this vision of a sort of sandbox action/RPG set in a city where you could create your own horror-movie type bad guy, and pretty much go on a rampage of "adult level" rape, torture, murder and destruction, and ultimatly wind up fighting other horror-movie type baddies/rivals for territory and the like. I was also looking at the way police respond in games like "Grand Theft Auto" and was thinking that it could be interesting to plot police response patterns based on things like the ancient "VICAPS" (Violent Criminal Apprehension System). Things like the "least effort" principle so a budding monster would for example have more problems with the police if they took victims too close to their lair/home, especially to begin with and things like that.

It's complicated, and doubtlessly a bit sick, especially if I went into the overall plotline/missions/etc... which I've vaguely considered. However I see it as being in a similar spirit to the "giant monster" games that were popular for a while.

How well it would do is beyond me, but really I've never run into anyone else that has had similar ideas. Also to be honest it's one of those things I don't think would make a fortune, but would probably have a healthy niche market and be somewhat profitable. Chances are if I ever did it, I would already have money by definition, and I'd be making the game for horror fans more than any real craving to get even richer off of it.

I love reading threads like these! Sharing ideas is always neat.

I've been working on a script as a fun little past time between my short story projects. It's very plot heavy, and very - very - odd. I wanted to challenge myself with it because the gaming community is just ridiculously flooded with bland and predictable stories. Too many space marines, too many testosterone fueled meat-heads, too many women who are just totally one of the guys oh my gawd and look I have boobs! Far too many games lack soul and creativity when gaming actually has this awesome potential to be a fun and intriguing medium for storytelling.

That, and I specifically rolled my eyes and scoffed all pretentiously when the developers of Rage said they wanted to do something "weird". I mean, puh-leez, are you seriously calling a blatant Fallout ripoff "weird"? Pish posh, are you all so uncreative? I thought I could do better, seeing as I am the queen of surrealism.

What I'm working on isn't open world, because I've played too many promising games that have become a bore fest because all the focus was spread too thinly during development. It's on a different planet so I can have total control of a new culture, and it takes some of the themes from steam-punk style but gives it a new twist. It's got it's own mythology and history to unravel, as well. There are also some Lost-esque WTF moments which are devilishly fun to write.

There is a character creation system and different histories to choose from that weave into the storyline and change the ending up, instead of backgrounds just being tossed in for kicks ala Mass Effect. You can switch between first person and third person and have a few traveling companions that are all integral in the story, rather than just being stock characters that sit around in camp doing nothing. I don't want any extraneous bullshit - EVERYTHING and everyone is important in the end.

It's been a really pleasing learning experience. =) There's a lot more leeway I can work with in game writing rather than novel writing... like with characters! One of my favorite freaking things ever is crafting interesting characters and plotting their growth. You can only have so many cast members in a novel before it becomes confusing, after all, but now I can creative a vast, colorful cast spread out across the game. That, and world building, dialogue banter, and constructing a mythos is all SO much fun, you guys don't even know.

Hopefully I can break into the industry once college is done, since this is what I want to do with my life. Maybe get an internship somewhere, I dunno.
