If you play a low difficulty, do you ever feel ashamed?

I must play at the highest difficulty setting and struggle through it, no matter how bad I am. I did it with Halo: Reach, Legendary-all-alone, and felt an amazing sense of achievement from it!

The only time I felt ashamed was when Dragon Age got so hard for me I had to put the difficulty down to the easiest setting, simply because I suck at the game.

If a section of a game is really kicking my ass then I'm not ashamed to turn the difficulty down to get through it. Then afterwards I'll turn it back to normal or whatever level I was playing at.

I like at least a bit of a challenge with my games, so that's there's at least some sense of accomplishment when I win.

Then again sometimes It's fun to turn the difficulty down to the lowest level and mow down enemies with such ease you feel like a god. Mostly depends on what I feel like doing.

Nope, never ashamed about playing something on Easy. I'm mainly there for the story anyway, not to get my ass kicked by mercenaries, monsters or mechanoids. If there's a special feature such as some extended ending on a higher difficulty, then maybe, but I don't care if the game doesn't make me care.

Nope, I always play a game on easy first. I want to enjoy playing a game and get to know the charachters, story etc. (if there is any) and if I have to sacrifice the "challenge" then I'm fine with that.
Doesn't mean second/third play throughs will be on easy though. I'll give harder difficulties a punt once I've completed it/got to grips with the story.

No, I really don't I like to play my games much like I would watch a movie. I like the narrative to continue uninterrupted. Although after beating a game when the story has already been played out for me I do like to beat a game on it's hardest difficulty.

Depends on the game. If it was already an easy game, yes, I probably would. If it was say, S.T.A.L.K.E.R or Operation Flashpoint on the other hand, no, if something's really difficult I have no issue with trying to make it easier.

not really no.i've been playing Minecraft on peaceful mode lately...yeah,i know the demotivational poster: "Don't be a pussy;Turn peaceful mode off",but i find it just as fun playing peaceful as playing it on medium, just exploring caves and the landscape.i found an above ground lava flow right next to a waterfall, and modified it to look like a monument, and i never would have been able to do all of that work (adding cobble border around water/lava,adding a walkway from my house to the thing, building a bridge to go over the lake in front of my house, etc) if i was playing on medium difficulty;i'd run there, place 12 blocks or so,then run all the way back so i didn't get blown up by creepers.i was able to work for (Minecraft) days straight without stopping and it was done in a matter of hours!

The only game I have played on Easy is Dead Space 1, and I was deeply ashamed. I did so because at the time I was literally teriffied of the game, and even 'cuddling' from my now-ex girlfriend would not help. The horror got stuck into my head so deeply, and yet I was 'driven' to play more by some uknown force, so I had to play it on Easy.

I finished Dead Space 2 on Veteran, though.

Other than that, I always play any game on Hard/Veteran/Harder difficulty. I enjoy the challenge and the extra XP, as well as any extra L00t.

Easy?
Right. Difficulty is irrelevant. I cannot remember a time when I didn't cheat in single-player games. Not that I lack the skill (Mile High Club on Veteran was a walk in the park, DMC 4 on Dante Must Die didn't even manage to kill me), but I simply have to cheat. Just like I have to sit down in front of my fucking computer every day and use the internets and play vidyagames. It's a fuckign necessity. Obsession, maybe. Who cares.

My job is a pain in the ass and incredibly annoying. I play games to get away from the stress of my job. I play on easy and have no shame.

Of course, I also played Prince of Persia (the original, 2d version) when it was new. And the original Ninja Gaiden (again, 2d version). Never beat either one, but I got to (just not through) the end of both. Never really felt accomplished about that; I really would have preferred to have been able to turn down the difficulty and actually finish them.

I felt ashamed to be beaten so badly in Old World Blues when I turned it to Very Easy when I went back...

I want to play for the Story during certain games (free Achieve/Trophy via CoD and shit for Complete The Storymode )

I always play on normal/hard first, but after the challenge I sometimes wanna have some fun so I crank down the difficulty and RP as a Norse God! (I'm Swedish so it adds up) just killing everyone in various fun ways.

I like to play easy because it makes me feel like a bad ass. Usually I play the normal mode.

Unless it comes to ninja gaiden. Then i play master ninja mode

I feel bad if I don't play on the hardest setting, unless the hardest setting is ridiculous

I play games to have fun, and if I don't have fun on a higher setting I will change it. That said, I'll always start on the highest difficulty available and can't remember ever changing beyond normal.

I tend to play on a level I find challenging and enjoyable. Shooters tend to go on the hardest or second hardest because I enjoy the challenge. Other games though, especially ones with a heavy story emphasis I play on easy difficulties because I'm there for the story. Last thing I need is to have to go through the same dialogue four hundred times because I keep dying.
