You would be able to see the person that is standing right behind RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT

Now what would be really awesome is referring to yourself in the third person while in third person mode.
In fact, from now, in any game I play that is 3rd person view, I will refer to myself in third person.
That should keep me busy for a few minutes.

So, based on the answers, I'm assuming that the 3rd person sight applies to actually controlling your actions. In which case, I too would want the switch-between-1st-and-3rd-person-view deal, and would probably use it to check out girls without them knowing, just like everyone else has said. I would like to observe myself from a different perspective, though. See how I really look to the world. Maybe find out what I can do better, all that jazz. As long as we're on the topic of new perspectives, I'd also like to see things from other people's point of view, complete with a knowledge of what they think.

I would have seen those sentries waiting for me around the corner. As it stands, I'm stuck under this box for the next few hours...

If I could see my life in third person I would so be a spy because looking around the corner would be a breeze.

If it was a sudden change, I would be utterly crippled for a time while I adjusted. If it were always so I would think nothing was out of place. The question is similar to asking "what if I couldn't see", which is hardly useful as even an intellectual exercise since either change would so fundamentally alter our lives that one cannot reasonably imagine things being that way.

Any activity that relied on sight (which is most of them) would be dramatically altered. Walking would be a challenge, manipulation of objects would be difficult, operation of a computer would be nearly impossible without some sort of aid and god forbid I was asked to read a book.

That said, I'm sure if one really wanted to find out what a third person perception would be like could simulate it for a few hours. All you need is a camera, a jury rigged steady cam harness and a mechanism to redirect the camera feed to the eyes.

I'd be able to check out my ass all day.

Damn that would be hawt.
the level of narcissism in that post scares me haha.

OP I would use it to abuse camera angles to see through walls like the girl's locker room.

... what?

I'd be able to learn more from my sparring matches in boxing. My vision would no longer be obscured by my boxing gloves (or my opponent's) when I'm blocking headshots.
