If you were in Psychonauts, what would your subconscious world look like?

That's simple, mine would be like Britney spears' fragle psyche, Split into more than one and always breaking down even more. ZING! I only know certain parts of it, as no human can possibly understand the full mind. We only use about 22% of our brains anyway. But, I know most of it's gonna look like a cross between the world of LIMBO (now available on the XBLA), A motorhead and Ozzy co-head tour, and stuff that only I could think of, but would scare the F### out of anyone... One example of the really freaky stuff would be Abraham lincon making out with Pee Wee Herman... You see, the healthy human mind doesn't think of this S###!!! I truly have problems...

It would probably be full of obscure Internet references and... probably a walrus. Also random objects would have cartoony eyes and they would be able to talk. Actually, that kind of sounds like Pee-wee's playhouse... On second thought, it would be colorful and kind of disorganized in addition to the obscure references and the walrus, of course. There's also a possibility that video game references and characters would be quite abundant. Also the gravity of the place would increase or decrease depending on my mood at the time.

Everyone would be trying to kill you. And no place would be the same. It would the change every time you went back.

A big maze made out of bookshelves, with one half of the maze's books strewn on the floor and the other half sorted by color in the order of the rainbow. In every corner, there's a potted plant of some description. Bookshelves are a dark brown, tall, and made out of wood. The books themselves are mostly about sharks, physics, 1920s fashion, and various other things here and there. Many of the books are just random words thrown together with no coherent meaning.
General enemies are sharks that can be one shoted with pyrokenisis, no matter how much health they have.
The music playing is upbeat jazzy stuff, think 1920s. The songs change very quickly, but all have the same feel.
The floor is black and red checkered tile, the colors are dull.
I am sitting in the middle of the maze, sitting and generally doing nothing of importance.
The furnishings where I am are a couch with a dark brown wooden frame, made out of the same material as the bookshelves, with red cushions. In front of that, there's a glass top coffee table, and on either side of the couch there are end tables, each with a lamp. On one of the end tables, there's a framed picture of Sora from Kingdom hearts, on the other there's a framed picture of a question mark.

There would be lots of curvy women making out in there, also lots of ideas floating about, strange characters here and there...

It'd be very chaotic, probably like if there was a habitable whirlwind in existence.

....Chocolate pudding snacks, and chicken filet people.. one part is a vast wasteland of cocoa powder that acts like quick sand in areas...oh and the secret to my mental realm is a 1 gallon insulated soda jug that cost me 8.99 at BP gas station and lets me refill for a dollar and forty five cents.

you some how have to get inside it, and fight a large rice noodle monster to escape and free me of my psychosis.......which is a licking the wall psychosis, but only ever the west wall of my padded cell...never the north, south or east...just the west.

It would probably be a world that seems blurry and undefined, objects coming in and out of focus, constantly changing shapes.

I like this topic. But then, I like Psychonauts. So I'm a bit disappointed that I can't come up with a very good answer because it's really hard to say what my head would look like to a Psychonaut -- all the heads of the characters you explore in that game are pretty incredible, not what you'd associate with a person.

Hmm, me? Probably a giant computer game arcade until you get into the deeper recesses and find self-doubt lurking there, or somesuch.

people Are only capable of expression emotions eleven times friendlier and humorous than there actual feelings, unless (they think) they're alone, in which they are showing that they quite frankly need a fricken hug.

Well, the basic 'architecture' would be pretty convoluted and confusing; a bit like the Security Guard's mind only more confusing... and considerably less Men In Black and other conspiracy-related things. This is due to the fact that my head works in pretty weird ways sometimes, mostly related to social interaction. As such there wouldn't be any people there; I'm a loner by nature and while I know there are good people out there (and get pretty damn lonely sometimes), I have not personally met any outside of my immediate family. Specific places in this maze of twisted roads that held important parts of my personality would be large walls on which objects were hung or placed on shelves. A few paths would lead to a 'hub' of sorts reminiscent of the Moon from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask only smaller and having a little more going on than a single lone tree in the middle. This hub would be on top of everything, with the roads and everything else twisting down below it.

I hold logic quite dearly (even though my head works in strange ways) so there would be some hard-wired censor spawners around the place. Only one or two in most places, but they'd be everywhere in a couple of places; one being around a wall with engravings of the names and definitions of different logical fallacies. Another being the wall representing my interest in weapons; mostly swords and other melee weapons, but a few firearms as well (Expect to see an M1911 there). There would be a decent number of censor outlets around the wall holding my interest in computers and gaming, but not as much. The final place with a number of censor outlets would be a wall themed around "not forgetting your failures", possibly with an engraved plaque about how forgetting times you were wrong or idiotic was dooming you to repeating them.

Other walls holding parts of my personality would either just have the standard level of protection or would have fallen into a state of disrepair (things I had turned my back on for whatever reason) or be obviously damaged by my own hand (a wrecked wall that was once for my girlfriend, now long ex-girlfriend).

Lighting would be fairly dim in most places except for these walls, which would be more brightly lit to facilitate being able to see clearly what was there (Representing how I sort of like the dark as long as it's still possible to see), and the previously mentioned 'hub' that would be in sunlight (You can't just live in the dark all the time, after all. Besides, I like it when it's sunny outside).

My mental self-image wouldn't really be in any one place, but he (I?) would likely mainly go between the hub, the computer wall, the weaponry wall and the music wall (mostly playing metal, naturally).

Depending on circumstances my mental self-image would also be the 'boss' a Psychonaut might have to deal with... which would be problematic because I don't think good things would happen if my mental self-image were 'killed' in my own mind. If they announced themselves I would probably tolerate their presence as long as I escorted them and they did as I said. Otherwise I'd materialise my claymore and attempt to wreck their shit on sight unless they did some real fast talking. I do not appreciate some person I don't know coming into my mind without even so much as telling me.

There would be a lot of movie and game references, especially science fiction and horror as well as the occasional great comedy.
I would have a lot to do with silly jokes and a lot, and I mean a lot, about the Sangheili.

There would also of course be the bad stuff too like my angry ability to obsess over things that aren't important, like Ashley from Mass Effect not getting proper recognition, or the Halo haters, or how Panda's continue to exist, or how it took two additional months for me to finally see Splice.

So in conclusion I think my world would be vast, and having many layers but ultimately very dark and twisted with a lot of angry undertones beneath the seemingly warm inviting interior.

A sea of boiling black tar, constantly bubbling and with faces screaming with rage breaking the surface frequently, and most of the time there's a shrieking wind that'll rend the flesh from your bones if you're exposed for too long. You'd have to get around via catapult, getting hurled across islands made up of more-or-less jagged rocks and sparse vegetation that keeps changing its colors. You may come across a variety of traps such as old-fashioned pitfalls, bladed chains and giant plants that spit poisonous snakes at you. Every step you take is a chore because something in this place induces unrelenting vertigo, making fast process pretty much impossible, and throughout all that you'll have to deal with censors in the form of rocket-powered disembodied fists.
The biggest island in this whole mess will have a huge mansion on it, with all the walls inside and outside looking like they were painted by throwing buckets of paint of the most garish colors at them. Among the rooms inside the mansion you'll find a giant library, a music room with pulsing woofers on every surface, an eternal buffet, a firing range, a pharmacy, a steelworks, a room full of luxurious cushions and carpets, a time machine, a torture chamber and a zen garden.
Wondering about the final boss? Just take a look in any of the hundreds of mirrors dotting the world. Eventually you'll find one that shows a version of you that made all the right choices where you went wrong in your life, and the supreme satisfaction your perfect clone exudes as they step out from behind the glass manifests itself in hot needles and acid. How do you beat this boss? How should I know? You should know yourself well enough to accomplish it... or not.

Well, there'd be mess everywhere. Lots of food on tables here and there, people having fun.
A bubble blowing machine :D
Games, Tv's, computers.
Then a door. Or, not exactly a door, a rectangular piece of wall. Which has a whole in it. Nobody goes near it.

My subconcious, in the game, mind you, would probably look like a huge forest, with waterfalls, hills, meadows, caves and a sky populated with clouds, all colored with a bright palette. At night, the world just becomes darker: the level doesnt change in any specific way, it just looks more intimidating and omnious.
It'd probably be almost exclusively platforming and puzzles, since i feel no need to argue or fight anyone, im a peaceful guy. However, there would be atleast one enemy in the game, a giant dog, sleeping in a cave. Waking this dog would result in a game over, and youd have to restart the level. This symbolizes the fact that i fear that those i love will get mad at me, or in any way affect me negatively. I love dogs, see.

My subconcious, as a character, would have a reasonably troubled past, although he is still a funny guy, a nice guy, wise, a little bit nervous and/or selfconcious, and spontaneus, curious and interested in everything. I imagine him as a buddhist monk. Amituofo!

(A lot of people in this thread seem too preoccupied to make themselves seem so deep and troubled, they forget to create their subconcious with all parts of themselves. Of course, we are all troubled and we all have bad days, bad personality traits and bad experiences or habits. But we seem to forget that there really are no sides of us, and that all these parts come together to form ourselves, not just create a mirror world. You know you dont behave like an angel or a demon exclusively: there's so many aspects that affect how we behave.)

This, i would like to say, but i feel too afraid to say so because someone might become upset or say i dont know them or dont understand. So, im not going to say it.

You would first try not to die passing through seeing Shana fighting mario/Misaka(railgun) fighting pikachu/mio,setsuna,& Kuchinashi(needless) fighting bowser, sonic & wario (in that order) without getting hit. Then some beavis and butt-head moments before entering the MTV zone with bam margera and rob dyrdeck...Good luck ^_^
