I think we refer to it as marriage where I live but in a lot of other places any move to make it an option is met with resistance from some people who will somehow be gravely offended by some people they don't know getting married.

@xmbts: Some people think that by changing the definition of marriage, that's changing society and humanity away from god's will. Personally I think that god didn't apply the labels, we did.

But I usually try to not get involved in religious discussions. Too much fanaticism on both sides of the spectrum.
