@Eum - I guess so, but not really the complex group stuff and beyond, 'cos biochem is more important in dealing with drug/receptor/membrane dynamics, and most reactions that might done by the body (from your practical, that is) are enzyme catalysed in mild conditions. Once you get past amide/amine/acid/alcohol functional chemistry (and a few others, probably), most of it's rather irrelevant (still interesting, though, mind you). The mechanisms are important, though, because they're effectively the same regardless of chemical context.

Still, fun times... my first day in post-grad research labs, one of the PhD's started a fire, that was amusing.

@Eum - Well, there is a lot of overlap (more than most think) between org and biochem to be fair, so I can see it (and my old man keeps insisting that you need to have all three sciences to be a good medic, but then he says that about any science subject...(!)).
