An axe, some rope, a shovel, a satnav, a water purifier and some canned food.
And for a person - Bear Grylls?
He's not that famous, right? And I can't shag him.

Well a Knife and I get one person hmm....
There's this guy of legend I know that spent 25 years or more leaving up in North Wisconsin all by himself and no connection to the outside world other then the plane that came by to give him a bag of flour and a bag of sugar.
I'd want him on my team.

I thought you said item? How come people are choosing scores of things?

Ray Mears [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvRR5MTBBQI] and a Laptop. He'll show me how to make a solar power cell for it, and tweak it so I can get some wireless internet going. We can make the weapons later.
see my choice in the other thread was Ray Mears and Bear Grylls, but for this one your not allowed to bring anyone famous.

Would a loophole allow you to bring Richard Dean Anderson playing as MacGuver, since one is famous but the other isn't?

Someone very, very morbidly obese, and a hacksaw. Not only can I use him as a raft, but also as a food source.

One of my chums, a weapon of choice for that chum and a sabre for me.
Providing I'm already wearing a fancy suit. If not I'd bring a fancy suit as well.

Best way I can think of... Assuming the island is NOT in the middle of the ocean, ie off the coast of a continent, you can generally cross this fairly easily, just need to explore a bit.
So best thing, even if its the cartoon island with the single palm tree, an axe and somebody that knows how to turn said tree into a canoe. (Assuming the tree is wide enough, you can hollow it out. Since wood floats very well, you just sail on across.)
Again if its a cartoony based island with no nearby larger landmass (even if its another island), a gun and a bullet only. You'll last 3 days at best, and die from lack of water, might as well make it quick.
And if its a reasonably good sized island in the middle of the ocean - a survival expert (preferably female of course...) and a good blade. I'd rather not have to resort to banging just two rocks together to make stuff, and a good sized knife has VERY many uses...

A female friend ((she knows who she is)) and a kit I have that contains a hacksaw with several extra blades, a hatchet, two knives, fishing line and hooks, and a large drop cloth.

I suppose so, but the actor himself is nothing like his character. SO essentially you would end up with a guy who LOOKS like McGuyver.

Well, some people are still not being as hypothetically realistic as I would like but I can't really do anything abut that but ignore them for they obviously can't read well. Thanks to everyone else however.
