If I take my laptop to class,which is a rare occurrence, it is to either follow along with a powerpoint lecture or to to do tangential research.

Don't even bring a laptop to class. If it's boring, you can blame the professor for wasting your time, not yourself.
I usually have mine with me but not open and will occasionally turn it on if it is a nonlinear editing class where I need it or the teacher needs to have someone look something up online. My opinion is in college if you are paying out your ass to go there why no pay attention.

One time in coputer class I was playing the newrounds flash version of Doom. My teache rmade me stop playing, but I'll always enjoy the 10 minutes of demon killing that I enjoyed AT SCHOOL.

I usually try and get steam up but the schools network blocks it so I have to wait till it's good to go in offline mode, which can take ages. Usually I'll just mess around on the internet and sometimes pay attention.
I'm at A - level though so I usually use my laptop during frees rather than lessons, I need all the lessons I can get.
dude, my friends and I used the computer lab after school almost every day my freshman year and we just sat around for like 2 hours playing co op doom. It was epic, a teacher even stayed with us so it would be all legit. Ahhh the good ol' days when my school hadn't turned to shite yet.Dfskelleton said:

since the wifi network is pretty miss-or-miss (see what i did there?) i watch metalocalypse. and because people next to me have no respect for screen privacy, i will go to world.guns.ru or watch Xavier: Renegade Angel. and if i'm typing something i will switch to the biggest font i have and type "THIS IS NOT YOUR SCREEN" because i KNOW they are looking at it.
i do these things to make people uneasy around me, and think twice b4 looking at my screen.
like one time where i was on world.guns.ru:
Adam- "Oh, are you on the rifle team?"
Brandon-"No."
Adam-" You're not gonna... Columbine us-- are you?"
Brandon-" No."
Adam- "Well in case, just remember I'm your best friend, right?"
OH! also this one time i was reading Mein Kampf from a .pdf and this girl comes over and starts reading if off of my screen. she then says "oh, that's that book Hitler wrote, right? are you reading that for a class?"
i looked at her with a plain smile and said , "nope, i just like this book".
she backed away slowly.

First day of class this stupid shit next to me was trying to shop for clothes online in class. And then she couldn't figure out that the campus firewall blocks the communication with the store's payment server. >.<
I take notes as necessary, I pay attention when I have to, though when they're wasting time talking about the teachers kitchen or parties etc. I read stuff on wikipedia or the escapist
