Ok Ive been noticing that when ever IGN makes a "strategy" for a multiplayer game It almost always screws up the entire online experience. Here I'll use halo wars as an example the multiplayer was going pretty damn well until they came out with there "warthog rush" video therefor ruining the entire MP for the game.I want to know what the hell happened to making your own strategy's finding your own secret areas weapon combos ect and not just using another persons "cheat sheet". I know that its there job and all but should the gaming community really just role over and let them stomp all over our gaming experience? Even look at COD black ops...hasn't even been out for a month and there already starting with the whole "Hard line and then spam the RC-XDs"...

Ok enough of my little spew I want to know what you guys think. Do you think that IGNs fine and I'm just being a baby, That they should only stick to single player. Do you agree with me that they've gotten a little out of hand in supporting the lazy gamers...Questions thoughts comments?

I laugh at anyone using the RC-XD on the PC version, its really easy to shoot 2 shots at it and watch it die, wasting their killstreak

I think that if the game is balanced well, then good players should be able to adapt to those who just use strategies from the internet, and even take advantage in some cases.

For example, I've taken to using Flak jacket a lot, because the RC-XD kills me a lot, and I dislike how arbitrary it is. It certainly kills me more than any other killstreak. It's avoidable(just hide whenever they get one), but doing so slows you down. Flak jacket stops them killing me, so saves me a death, and makes it more likely I'll get a decent killstreak by killing them while they're spamming their silly little cars.

Honestly all the strategy videos of theirs I have watched have counter strategies... I used to count on rushes when I played Halo Wars, it's what got me to General rank so quickly.

Obviously someone, somewhere will produce a 'guide' of sorts for online play, detailing the tactics that produce most gain for least effort/skill/trial and error. Looking at this thing, the tactics they suggest are the exact same things I've been doing since the game came out.
Flattering as it is to see so many people using ideas that I (and doubtless many other people) came up with, the lack of ingenuity is annoying. Part of the game is finding out what works and what doesn't!

Still, the number of people incapable of changing to a class with ghost and/or whipping out a launcher when air support comes in is laughable. When a chopper gunner can clean up a team deathmatch game for the last 25 kills, the enemy team have screwed up bad...

Also, why can no-one work out that hiding somewhere where you can block access with a claymore before activating killstreaks will save your life many, many times? Most people seem to just lie out in the open, or in an obvious corner.

Many good RTS strategies involve an early rush to force pressure on your enemy.
I never played Halo Wars but I'd imagine that the warthog is fast and a nice harass unit that could kill off resource gatherers, sort of like Helions in Starcraft 2.

Learning to survive and counter early rushes is one of the first lessons in RTS's so unless this Warthog rush is a legit game breaking tactic then you only need to overcome the learning curve.

What I've noticed from seeing IGN's multiplayer segments is that they pick up early and new tactics and let them out to the masses.
I actually like this because it causes me to change my playstyle more significantly than if I was just going to repeat the same tactic over and over until a small change happened, the IGN thing is almost like a forced evolution.

I know that I wouldn't keep coming back to the same game if nothing changed from round to round. When I lose I like analysing what I did wrong and how I can improve. Now I'm not saying that you need to note anything down and look at statistical sheets and whatnot but I find I have the most fun when I'm either
- Playing just to have a laugh with friends
or
- Playing to improve my style and notice mistakes

I'm not the kind aiming to always be #1 in every game or top the leaderboards, it's just fun with variety, even if IGN or other tactic sites have to start the buzz about it.

I never actually thought their strategies were any good so I forget about them in a day.

When I was buying CoD in store, they tried to sell me a BradyGames guide book for it. It's selling points? Apparently it shows you all spawn points and sniping spots. For 10GBP?! (15USD?!) You're having a bubbly bath mate, and how dare you call me a camper.

I still prefer the Spy Plane, Carepackage, Attack Chopper line-up. I usually get three kills with the spy-plane than just the one with the RC-DX.

Still I have to agree with the IGN thing. I ruined Halo Reach's firefight achievements when my mate said, "I have an IGN strategy for us to use." I thought it would be an actual challenge, not a half-hour long game with you being invincible and every enemy posing a smaller challenge than crippled worms against your golf club of doom.

IGN ruins everything. Their reviews and shows suck. They are corrupt money grabbing bastards. Just like most reviewers they take money to give the game a good review. No one in their right mind would give Black Ops or MW2 more than a solid 6!

While i sort of agree, chances are a lot of the people who got either game on launch day didn't watch any reviews before deciding to get it.

Insanely sad but true, to this day I'm still baffled as to how with each CoD game that had air support people still haven't learned to take it down. I swear I was always amazed as to how easily I got nukes in MW2 but just going harriers -> ac130 -> nuke, and 9 times out of 10 I didn't have to get any more kills with my gun after I hit harriers. And then those people rage when someone gets a nuke. Every competent player should be switching class as soon as they die to send any and all air support burning to the ground before it has a chance to do anything.

....so almost every reviewer out there must be out of their mind because most gave MW2 and BOps it well above a 6/10 or equivalent...huh...

Try Console.

Those little bastards should NOT be a 3 kill streak.

I don't think you get rewarded for shooting them down. The personal achievement is great, but there's really no reason to do it, since;
A) You'll likely be shot well looking up.
B) You won't be able to finish it off in one life.

Can't really blame them for doing something that gains popularity and publicity. It's more of a shame that they're willing to show players the cheap tactics rather than let them figure it out by the time Christmas rolls around.
