This happens with me and nearly every game Ive ever played, where applicable.
In fallout3, In my entire life ive always horded mini nukes... only ever TWICE used.

and that masterball has it's rightfull place on a collectors shelf... (to be equipped and traded with another one of my games :D)
.. ... ... and with that, anyone else feel almost embarrassed to use their given masterball?

I read an article about this once (think it was on Cracked), it's apparently human nature that we hoard things xD

We keep useless items just incase they're needed later, and lose a lot of potential money.

It makes sense sometimes though, in FF13 i fought the urge to hoard and sold 2 useless items. Turns out these 2 useless items were the only 2 that would of come in use later on.

through each of my playthroughs for fallout 3 i only used mini nukes about 3-4 times, partialy for needing them later partialy for them making behemoths WAY too easy, i had one playthrough were i stockpiled the shit out of 10mm rounds, .32 rounds, and took out the one in the capitol building with just a 10 mm pistol and a hunting rifle with no V.A.T.S., MUCH more fun

The summons in Final Fantasy 13.

They are basically unlimited and you just have to recharge your meter by winning a few matches with good rating, and yet I never use them. It's weird really.
That may have something to do with the fact they suck? Not once have they saved me in a difficult situation.

Yeah, I have this problem. I end up hoarding things I have no use for, then sell them after hours of convincing myself they're of substantial worth to my quest.

most games, in FFX I would use my weak summons (if any) incase I ran into something big and scary.

in the Edlder Scrolls games (and in Fallout) I pick up almost any piece of weaponry and armour I find, even if I don't specialise in that weapon type. I remember once of an Oblivion save I had about 5 enchanted maces weighing me down on a blade based character, which in turn stopped me from picking up swords

Thats cause you can do the same amount of damage, if not more (a lot more, normally), then the actual summons can, making them pretty useless.

dude, the pokemon games embody this idea.

No one uses a TM they find because they cn never get another one.

Game- "here's icebeam from a girl on the dept. store in celadon"
me- "I dare not use it because then I'm stuck with that one pokemon knowing it and no one else can learn it."

Any game where you have a rocket launcher or some other powerful weapon I loathe to use it for fear I might need it later but not have any ammo for it... And I never need it!

Of all the TM's to not use, icebeam? You can get those easily from the game corner.

I don't do this for the most part... Except for grenades. I completely forgot I had grenades for just about my entire first game of mass effect. And for borderlands. But, of course, when I do remember I have grenades, it's always when I'm fighting those annoying rushing-type enemies that grenades are completely useless on.

Also, I need to start using my pills more often In L4D2.

L4D2. I typically just use the sidearms or melee weapons to not waste ammo on the main gun if possible. I hate nearly 200 bullets in a sniper rifle, i just hate wasting them when the magnum is unlimited and probably one of the most accurate weapons in the game (not the most).

Aside from that, in Pokemon I never really use elixers or any other PP restoration items because I'd rather just sell them for more pokeballs or something. I wouldn't call that hording though. I'd think that's just good economic sense seeing as it's free to go to a center and restore all your moves anyway.

Ah, this. Certainly happens a lot, at least to me. In most campaigns I usually spare everything I come across, at all times. I played through BioShock using the wrench on everything except the Saturnine splicers, anything with automated fire, Big Daddies and Mr. Cuddly at the end.

I was probably afraid this weirdo [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3n0vBcW5fc&feature=related] would show up as a boss at some point.

Hello, my name is da_schwartz and i'm an item hoarder.

I am beyond guilty of this, especially in RPG's. That constant, i'll need it for the last zone mentality. Yea chances are i never do. I do it with weapon upgrades as well. "nope, not gonna waste it on this weapon...I'll wait till i get a better one first". Shooters too, I tend to use lesser ammo first before wasting more powerful of valuable rounds on common baddies and grunts. I'll hold onto anything until i die multiple times trying to do something or i simply hit the wall. it's terrible.
