Pretty much every item ever in any game where you can collect anything.
I have played through Chrono Trigger about 50 times and I still get weary if I have to use one Megaelixir even though I have 99 and will pick up at least 10 throughout the game.

It's just how I is.
Pretty much this. Exactly. Like. This. I didn't even sell excess equipment like the Wood Sword.

I was like that when I was a kid. Not anymore though. If you're not going to use it, it's just dead weight.

Use it or lose it.

Tell me about it. Even though New Game + doesn't allow you to keep gold, and I could probably benefit from selling items, I have like 25 Rainbow Swords or something ridiculous.

Elixirs, Ethers and Mega Elixers in final fantasy games. I never use them, just in case I get to a fight where I really really need it, but even then I don't use them. Thank goodness FF13 removed them.

Oh the dreaded "I'll need it later." and his brother "Should I use it now?" have ruined many a great game for me. A few of which I ended up beating the game without ever using the super rare rocket/potion/wand of death/life/bunnies. Sometimes I reload a save game just to go play with the toys I spent too much time hoarding.

Let me tell you, breaking the habit of keeping stuff in my inventory instead of having fun with it can be very challenging, especially if you think "I'll probably need it later"...

Pretty much all the cool weaponry you get in Fire Emblem. "Use your Killing Edge to kil that sage over there." "But I might need it later!"

It is the opposite for me though. I use badass one time items the first chance I get to see what they look like, then realize that it was the only one in the game. And continue without it like a man.

pffff wimps and newbs every one of you!

I use the ultra high powered super awesome one shot weapons against the boring bosses so I can get through them faster. Then I go all out against the hard ones. Shit dudes, that's just how I roll.

In DA:O when I started saving all the mana potions for the final boss(I really didn't need that many), and in ME2 when I used crappy weapons to save ammo for the final boss(I wasn't too epic, because I used my fully overloaded Cain)

Only once have I used those, and that was the "nuke launcher" in Mass Effect 2, on insane, on those giant Scion-zombie thingies. And I've been playing games since the mid nineties...

Otherwise, no never.
I saved the Cain for the final boss in ME2, Insanity mode. It wipes somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3 of its armor. For anything else, it's really an exaggerated overkill weapon.

In shooters especially I use whatever weapon I happen to find most ammo for during the current mission. And in some cases when you have so much ammo that is insane not to waste 200 bullets on a generic low level monster, it just adds to the fun being able to use monstrous gear to kill wimpy creatures >:)

Shit, I'm terrible like that.
Fallout, Doom, Borderlands... Almost any pre-1997 game. I can't help hording it, then I realise the game is nearly over and use ot for no reason.
Hah! There is so much ammo in the last level of Doom 3 I usually end up wasting a good 20 minutes using it all up except for my BFG and shotgun ammo. Doesn't help that I was practically full on ammo for everything once I got there. 200+ pistol shots, 600 machine gun rounds, 500 plasma cells, 600 chain gun bullets, 100 rockets, 50 grenades.....and there's usually some extra lying on the ground.

I'm a packrat as far as Ammo and superweapons goes, but I'll use them to dust anything that I can't easily kill or bypass another way.

I tend to keep way too much extra crap in games like Diablo 2 and Dragon Age. My chest in Wardern's Keep is LOADED with shit I'll never use, but don't want to sell. Mostly unique or interesting weapons and bits of armor.

Anywho, the question is, what are some moments in gaming you've had something and thought to yourself "I'll need it later" when there really isnt anything that you will need it for later?
Hell No!

In STALKER if I find an RPG it absolutely will be fired at the first viable target, whhether that's a helicopter, pseudogiant, chimera or even just an irritating group of bandits, they will be exploded with impunity.

The way I see it, games give you the big guns to be used, not to hang onto for posterity.

It's ALWAYS like that when I'm playing...

Oh god, an example: In F.E.A.R. I quicksave A LOT. And when I'm damaged, I insta-reload. I always think "I'll need full health and armor for harder enemies", but even when I'm fighting harder ones, I reload when damaged.

...argh. It's getting obsessive. Damn perfectionism. D:

Shit when you play Bioshock for the second time it's a challenge trying not to get the max amount of ammo. I got so obsessive compulsive at certain points I just held the fire button while walking to the next enemies.

Pretty much any game with a kickass weapon regardless of how often you get ammo for it. I always save it just in case.
