I don't understand the big deal. The thing has a preprogrammed database of information, it also has lightening reaction time because its a computer. This machine is trivial, like jeopardy.

Am I missing something? Or will the machine take over by boring us with a bunch of shitty trivia?

You can't spell trivial without "trivia", y'know. I agree that the reaction time is probably the biggest factor here, which is sorta duh. It doesn't have to press the button, it just goes off when it knows the answer.

Actually it does press a button. If you watch the part 1, it shows the button it presses is in another room.

Oh, I must've missed that when I skipped past the blatant IBM plugging. How fast does it press that button?

Thats my feeling. I also feel I don't have enough of an understand, but it takes things through a process of elimination with a huge ctrl+f data search style of things.

I don't particularly find it all that interesting, but to each their own.

The game was also incredibly boring to watch.

Everyone is considering this thing "the beginning of the robot apocalypse". What people don't realize is that this amazing piece of technology cannot do more than what has been shown the past couple nights. This thing isn't hooked into the web, and consists of ten server racks and two room-sized refrigeration units. If you really feel threatened by this thing (like I know a few of my friends do) then you seriously need to start thinking rationally.

What I've seen of people feeling "threatened" has been very tongue-in-cheek.
Also:
What is fascinating is how well it can parse text to identify the correct answer... As someone with a decent bit of computer science knowledge, that it fairly consistently even understood what was being asked is quite impressive. With a computer, reaction time isn't the question, base comprehension is, and personally I am very impressed at how well it did.
