There's no shame in anything apart from for the people that make fun of others for being different than what is typically considered an average person. They rightfully should feel shame.

I own a Wii as well.
I does have some really great games, however few they may be.
Mario Galaxy currently holds the rating as the 2nd best game of all time on gamekrankings.com, which is saying something.
Also, Metroid and - to a lesser extend - Zelda are also kick-ass games (although I'd whish we could get a new hero, damsel in distress or even a new color of clothing in upomming Zelda-titles)
It's just too bad that Nintendo has completely shifted all focus away from singleplayer and made the Wii a party-box IMO.

My first reaction to this thread was "Good for you! Now I need to go make breakfast."

Honestly, should you really care about the stereotype of Wii owners? Personally, I have yet to meet an adult who plays with the Wii, all adults/grandparents I've seen were buying the Wii for their children (in the line I was in for a Wii, first in line with a kid and his parent, then two grandparents, then an awesome Indian guy :D Unfortunately, there was a shipping error with only 3 Wiis and the Indian guy couldn't get it. GOD DAMNIT NINTENDO! Why can't you produce more?!?!?)

If you're 24 and own a Wii and still play it, good for you. I respect that because when I play my Wii, I play it for 2 or so weeks then just drop it. To this day, I havn't touched it and rebooted Okami and I really want to play Okami again but I just don't have the will or effort to just turn the power on.

nothing wrong with any of that. Its really a matter of opinion. I like all three consoles and my mac gets a kick out of Halo, but the wii is just plain better. Oh, no DVD player or high end graphics; not cool! Purely aesthetic things. graphics can be lived without, and just change the damn TV from video 2 to 3 to watch a movie, so who cares? Really its just because there's something for everyone on the wii. You got Wii sports and Wii play for your grandmother, mario kart and paper mario for your little brother(although these are things I enjoy too), Guitar hero and rayman for parties, and Resident evil and the upcoming GTA and dead rising for you! If you're happy with the wii then good, because it will also be good for your little brothers.

Dude, The Wii Zelda still has Zelda in it, but she's not the damsel in distress. Just like she wasn't in Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening or Oracle Of Ages/Seasons (she was in this game but only a bonus quest if i remember correctly). I'm not sure if she's in 4 swords though (EDIT: As I haven't played it)

Even when you look at Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, it's not really THE zelda, or THE link. Just the game's way of showing the same people with the same fate will continue to re-emerge. That's how I always saw it anyway.

There's nothing saying that that many of the games are directly linked either (pardon the pun) apart from the obvious few.

To put it into perspective mate, and I mean no offense here, you're 24, you own a wii and you're really into Dragon Ball Z. The stereotype, alas, still stands.
As a Wii owner, I still laughed.

I probably laughed harder actually

When it comes to FPS controls, I honestly think the Wii has the most satisfying and fun control scheme to offer for first person shooters for any console out there.
If only now they would release a good FPS on the Wii, maybe I haven't played enough at a friend's, but so far I have found the controls dodgy (especially the UbiSoft way of managing sniper zoom) and the FPS I have played on a Wii were run-of-the-mill or failed ports (Red Steel and FarCry jump to my mind, as well as Call of Duty, and I did not play Metroid Prime 3 yet, mind you, I feel the Metroid Prime series is an exception and I see them as FPE (exploration) more than shooting.
Now if you prove me wrong, well my bad.
Everyone I know said Medal of Honor 2 on the Wii was great, and Red Steel 2 looks pretty good.

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 ? I played it on the PSP... it's still the exact same medal of honor for years, and it's not only nothing new, but it's so scripted that Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny both appear to have human-like AI in comparison...
PROTIP : Medal of Honor is not a very good measure of FPS quality...

Red Steel 2 : maybe so, but Red Steel controls are a bit dodgy methinks, especially the sniper zoom handling...

Well, you just asked for a good FPS. Everyone said Medal of Honor 2 on the Wii was good, especially the online. And Red Steel 2 looks like they fixed some of that stuff. Also, odd thing, to fix a lot of the errors in Red Steel turn the Wiimote volume down to below half-way.

Well I've never had a problem with my 360, and I prefer being able to use analog sticks and buttons to aim, move and perform actions. Rather than having to swing and lunge with a little plastic box to do anything in a game.

I don't know if anyone else had this problem, but I found the Wiimote to be very unreliable One moment it worked flawlessly, next moment I'm pointing it at the left side of the screen and it refuses to move from the middle. Games requiring you to hold it on it's side and tilt it forward to move (Mario Kart Wii) were even worse, as you have to turn the thing almost completely upside down for it to go anywhere.

I personally hate the Wii and don't really understand what children (And certain adults I suppose) find so great about it. But hey man, whatever floats your boat.

Eggo : there is no CoD4 on PSP, it's on DS, and if MoHH2 is the same game on PSP and Wii, format excepted, then the issues are more than likely to be the same, see King Kong on PS2, GC, XB, PC and PSP for example.
By the way, did I mention something about graphics or control schemes ?
No. I talked about the horribly uninspiring maps, shitty AI and overscripting.

Well you know, about the analog sticks, the "horribly slow" is seriously biaised, you can set the sensitivity at will usually now, so you can have extremely responsive dual analogs...

For me its not so much that I expect every Wii owner to be 5 years old, I just feel like 5 year olds are the target audience of the Wii. I was very excited about the Wii when it was announced, but as of right now it only has 2 games that I would play, and only one game that I really want to play.

I appreciate the fact that the Wii COULD be a better console (to some) for FPS' and that they aren't fulfilling their potential in ways. But it's still early days yet and I wouldn't want the Wii to leg-hump one genre of game if it were to (hypothetically) become the new FPS king and forget about the rest.

It's versatile and an above average all-rounder IMO, but they didn't have to skimp out of a DVD player on it though :(

One FPS I liked on my GameCube that I've played on my Wii recently, is XIII. It's a really nice looking game with a good story too. Lovely cliff-hanger at the end.

Wonder if they're bothering to follow that up. Anyone know?

Hard to tell, I don't remember it as a commercial success and the comics series is over, the last story was published this year.

There are big chances this game will stay as a one-shot...

That's a shame. I really liked the fact it was an FPS that was comic book/cell shaded, rather then as close to real life as possible.

Oh yeah, and it was David Duchovny who did the lead's voice. Which was strange, but entertaining.

It would have been stupid to play on photorealism when you're making a game out of a comic book. Yet I get your point.

For the record, I've ALWAYS preferred a mouse over analogue sticks. Especially when playing an FPS
