Hey guys im kinda lost on this one abit, I love playing games etc but well im not really that good at most, mean I arnt so good on shooters (halo being main one), stealth games nop since I fail at thief 1 and 2, and RTS games I like but can not play any good at. If im honest only game ive ever been good at is world of warcraft, was best healer in my two guilds (one before I quit and one after I rejoined) and got all the way to lich king. But just do not enjoy WoW anymore (been off it for few months I guess) and now im worried that its the only game ill ever be good at, I want to be able to go on a game and able to beat my friends etc and be pro at one of them.

Please any advice or insight would help because I do not want to go back to WoW to feel like a good gamer.

Fine, fine. More seriousness... Why do you have to be good at the games you play? o.o I generally suck and get by on luck, and still have loads of fun x)

Well, there's plenty of other MMOs with a similar healing mechanic to WoW. Have you tried guild wars? I'd say though, that if that kind of game appeals to you, why not try singleplayer RPGs like dragon age?

well thing is I get tired of RPG's, I want strategy, fast paced combat etc but I dont seem to be any good at it, and I do have fun anyways but would like to go on a game thinking I can win a couple of times rather then none (quite competetive) and played other MMORPG's and tbh WoW is best out of them mechanics and just overall.

Please tell me your self-esteem is not really tied up in this kind of poppycock?
It. does. not. matter. Gaming's just a hobby, and you should play to have fun and unwind; you'll get enough competition for all kinds of more or less important crap in the real world.

Ugh its not self esteem or anything (why does everyone assume it is) and I know its for fun I play couple of rounds of halo or left for dead 2 with my mates for just the like "OMG he just stickyied you from the other side of the map" laughs etc but just want to find a game where im good at it and I feel a sense of I dont know maybe just that I could go play this game with complete strangers and give them a run for there money, or so when I play my friends in a game I can put up a decent fight so the games more enjoyable rather then me getting completely fragged, shot and sliced in first few mins of the game . Or like how I get the feeling about science, I love learning about it, understanding it and putting that to practise. So just want a game that I can do that with mean like halo and L4D2 are fun but not challenging but want a challenging game that I enjoy but am atleast bit competant playing so that I can play against other people and just see whos better, what I can learn from it etc you know as in competetive gaming.

Yeah, I get you - I was playing TF2 just there, but I was playing pretty badly and so it just wasn't really all that much fun. All I can really recommend is dropping hours into it until you develop the skill. It's not a matter of innate talent, that's a BS concept that the media developed in order to turn achievement into something mysterious. In every game I've ever been good at, that's what I've done. In TF2 I've put 80 hours into the sniper, and I'm fairly good with him, but I've put a lot less into the spy, and correspondingly I suck. If you practice, you will improve.

Try some old games. I've been playing a lot of Front Mission 3 lately. Look it up and see if you like the look of it. It's a Turn-based Tactics game with mechs and some RPG elements.
