hab·it n.
a. A recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition.
b. An established disposition of the mind or character.

I have a real bad habit of listening to a song for hours (if not days) on end. Either the chorus gets me, the music, a certain line of a song, something... Just hooks me to a song(s). I happened to look on my iTunes at my most listened to song, and I was curious. It was a Queens of the Stone Age song, but that's cause they're my all time favorite band. There were some songs that I only gave one listen to or none at all. I wondered why, but I put the song I've been obsessing over the most right back on.

Right now, I can't stop listening to "Feel It In My Bones" (ft. Tegan and Sara) - DJ Tiesto. I think the lyrics really get me the most in this song. I tend to identify myself better through words than pictures. At least at a song's perspective.

I take a breath
Take a breath
With me blow by blow
Take a break
Take a break
From you you are here to stay
I take my heart out of my chest
I just don't need it anymore
Take my hand up again
I just don't need it anymore

I just really love this song right now. That'll probably change when I find another song to take its place. I notice that I do this more with music than anything else. There aren't many movies nowadays that I can watch more than once. Nothing grabs my attention like that anymore.

Relationships are another ballgame. I tend to date the same kind of guys. Similar personalities and interest. They're all some sort of gamer/tech geek. Never really tried to venture out of that spectrum. Maybe it's my stuck-up personality to think other guys outside that "stereotype" aren't smart enough for me? Who knows. I just seem to be attracted to them the most. Most of my friends fall into the same category as guys I'm interested in. I can go off of the path easier with friends then when it involves a (possible) significant other.

But what about you Escapist? Is there a song, album, movie, book, game, that you tend to play over and over again? Maybe there's a specific relationship you tend to find yourself in over and over again. Friends? I'm curious to your responses. Please, nothing TOO stupid, thank you.

Yes. Absolutely. I watch the movie Red Cliff again and again and again and again, starting again this evening. I really have no idea why. It is a fantastic film but I don't get why my brain seems to want me to watch it. Another film I watch all the time is 13th Warrior, but that is more easily explainable. I first watched that film back in the early 2000s when a fair few really pleasant things were happening in my life, and watching it seems to fire up those feelings.

The other thing I do is watch this youtube video [http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=p8C8AVWLhwI] repeatedly. The folks here who know me on a more personal level will probably understand why.

The day of my graduation from High School, I was in a particularly good mood. I had walked up, gotten my sheet of paper from the principal, and walked off-stage a "different man" despite being exactly the same person. After the ceremony was over, and I dodged a furious flurry of flying hats, I left the stadium.

I got into the seat of my car, still brand new at the time, and queued up my CD. My car plays MP3 CD's, so I had a pretty fancy choice of songs. I ended up settling on Yo Pumpkin Head [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5M3R2WvFQk] from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, Future Blues. I had this song on repeat all the way home.

And all the way through the summer.

And all the way up to my college.

The funny thing is as I listen to it now, typing up this post, I still get the childish, victorious feeling that I got the first time I heard it after the graduation. Next time I get in my car, I might just pop this CD in again and give it another few hundred listens. And then a few more for good measure.

Aside from that, I'm a creature of habit. I like to wake up around the same times, do the same sorts of things, wear the same sorts of clothes, drive the same sort of cars, eat at the same places, and... I think I 've made my point. Either way, I'm a terrible creature of habit.

I keep coming back to the Escapist, that's a habit I have had since the start of this year!.

Aside that no, I tend to be spontaneous and unpredictable.

If I had the patience i would read Tolkiens beyond the grave masterpiece, The children of Hurin to the end of time itself, I have not any time though. I do however have time to get stuck listening to Weird Al's "thats your horoscope for today" for nights at a time.
I bought that book ages ago but haven't even begun to read it. I haven't even finished The Silmarillion for starters :(

The Children of Húrin seems interesting though, might start on that on the weekend.

If I come across a new song I like, I tend to over play it, get bored of it, leave it for a while, come back to it, and remember why I liked it.

I do that too. My "favorite" playlist of songs are songs I played to death, then I don't listen to them until I just let my iPod play. Then I go back to dancing to it.

Shush, Neo. Before I shank you.

OT: I use to play ATWA on my guitar every time I picked it up. Probably cause it was the only song I learned how to play...hm.

I, when I used to read more books on average than I do now, read through Lloyd Alexander's that...five-part series about that Taran guy. I don't think the series had a name, but I, for some reason, really liked it and read through the five books...three times.

And with songs? Well, I listen to my playlist over and over and over again, I don't really change it that often. I also listen to songs that I've just heard and really liked to a lot.
The most recent example being, after hearing it from a YouTube video at the background of a video about Event Horizon, "Getting Away With Murder by Papa Roach", and before that, "Burning Beard by Clutch".

Both convinced me to get the albums, and I listen to them a LOT.

Yes I do. But I do find the habitants of Shankland tend to be a bit mean on Tuesdays. It's okay, I know it's National Mean Day in Shankland.
