I realised just a few minutes ago that when it comes to gaming, I must really like seeing myself in pain. Currently, I'm trying to figure out Dota 2. That's a pretty hard game in and of itself, but instead of playing against bots or with a few friends, I'm going it completely alone. Occasionally I hear things about the game and try to work with them, but for the most part I'm learning it entirely through solo queue PVP. If that doesn't make me the ultimate masochist, I'm not sure what does, but at least I'm the ultimate something.
In that regard, discussion value: recommend me something hard, preferably one where I don't have to raise the difficulty options for it to be hard, but if all you have is Dante Must Die, that's cool. Note that I own a decent PC, a Wii, DS and 3DS, and I live in Australia so that might limit my options slightly.

I didn't expect this many responses. On the other hand, I now have a much larger Christmas list. Here's all the games that I'm considering based on your recommendations:
-I Wanna Be The Guy: Gaiden (already downloaded)
-FTL: Faster Than Light (FTW: for the win)
-X-COM: Enemy Unknown (I already have UFO Defense)
-Rayman Origins (played demo, already interested)
-Dishonored (perhaps with Christmas money if I get some)
-Dungeons of Dredmor (cheap as heck, even with both expansions, so)
-Dark Souls (if the price goes down a bit; $70 is more than I'm willing to pay for a bad port)
-Shiren the Wanderer (thank every god ever that standard-DS cards aren't region locked)
-La-Mulana (was interested in before, since a game's never made me take notes on a piece of paper before...)
-Trials 2: Second Edition (played a few Flash 'bike' games, including that one with Spongebob-- REPRESSED MEMORIES COMING OUT okay I'm fine now.)
Probably won't get all of these right away, because I'm a cheapskate and I have a number of games to get through already: Borderlands 2 (planning to use that 'anarchy' tree on the DLC class), Dota 2 (not that you ever really 'get through' it), Ys Origin (those boss fights are completely nuts)...I also own Jamestown, Shank, Serious Sam (all of the main series, none of the indie spinoffs though) and Metro 2033 already, so I'll look back into those too.
And I just remembered that I've got a number of bullet hell shooters in my backlog. This is going to be fun.
