Don't consider it, just straight up do it.

The other obvious thing to do is to cancel that phone contract (which you *should* be able to do - I've certainly cancelled a couple before although they were all getting toward the end) and get a £5 phone on pay-as-you-go. Boom, costs gone.

You'll be fine, think of it as character building and push through it. We all face periods of unemployment - some get it worse than others. I'm sure you'll have the strength to push through it and be positive. Everything will be fine, trust me.

I've very nearly been in this Situation, my job as a Liesure Attendant was due to expire at the end of this month, I've been renewed until November. The manager told me that the council just will keep me permanently on Temporary contracts for a while, Its there way of keeping me on my toes and staying out of trouble.

Register with an agency or two while you look for something permanent.

Most of us will be in this situation at some point, its not great but its not forever. Leave the CC on good terms and stay in touch in case another job opens up.

Yeah it's a phone contract. The problem with being on job seekers is that it will be on my record, and I'm not sure if I want that while applying for a new job.. I guess though, I would have to do that if all else failed.

What record? It's not like you put it down on a CV and that's all they look at, if they ask what you were doing during your off time just say "I was claiming job seekers while applying for jobs, I was also doing odd jobs for people to keep myself busy".

Nobody can have a go at you for supporting yourself after working, it's not like you plan on living on JSA for a years.

Getting JSA won't affect your chances of getting a job. But you can do the research, check out www.direct.gov.uk and find out what you need to know.

Definitely go down the JobCentre, if they're offering £54 a week, you might as well take it until you can start working again. Also, there's an allowance for rent, so if you need to pay that it'll help.

There's no shame in being on the dole as long as you're genuinely looking for work. I was too proud to sign on at the beginning, but since I ended up being unemployed for 9 months, I'm glad I did.

Get on an agency's books; even though the work often sucks, at least it's some money. If that comes to nothing, you can also do volunteering while on JSA and still get dole. Prospective employers like to see that you've been doing something while you're out of work, and it's something to add to the CV.

As you know you will be unemployed by the end of the month, you can apply now and as such have the money waiting, per se, when you need it.

Unless things have changed, as far as I'm aware you're not allowed to register until you're officially out of work (so the earliest you could apply is your first day of unemployment).

My advice to the OP - there's definitely no loss of pride in signing up for JSA and no employer or creditor will care if you've ever signed up for it. Estate agents might be fussed if you're unemployed and looking for a new residency but that's a different situation. You just need to prove you're looking for work, go in once a fortnight to let them know how you're getting on and that's it. No stigma attached.

ummm apply for whatever your unemployment for your country/area is and keep trying to find a job? Its what I'm doing right now......Gives me the money to use for gas for my car to get around and apply.

Yeah I've thought about this, fixing broken Xbox's and selling them on, or building PC's and selling them on, but there is such minimal profit in doing that... :/

But there must be some simple jobs to do while you're waiting for other (good) jobs. I mean some jobs are just dirty and/or boring. but at least you will have an income.
