I'm typically a Paladin: decent at DPS, decent at tanking, and can self heal to a degree. Awesome combo in my book.

Sounds like you'd make a fair Ranger as well. Or possibly a Ranger/Rogue mulitclass.

Also, totally off topic, but please tell me that your avatar is Washu from Tenchi Muyo!

Medic/Paladin/Cleric. I like to heal. Mostly myself but hell I'll heal my buddies if they need it.

Whoever doesn't use stealth. I hate stealth. It's the most boring tactic in games and just isn't any fun. Give me a character that busts through the enemies and mows them down any day of the week.

I don't play Guild Wars but I know what you'r talking about. I'm the big hitter on the team or an all round type. I always play the class or character that will need a healer in battle. I try playing as the healer or magic users but I'm bad at them don't know why YAY TANKS 8)

In Shooters im the Sniper, i find a nice window and i stay there till the deed is done.
In RPG's im not really sure, probably a support unit.

In RTS's im the Infantry man, i love those Dog-faced sons a bitches, what use is your expensive tank when its de-tracked and surrounded?

Well, I don't think he meant specifically D&D. However, yes rangers and rogues are highly synergistic. Quite honestly I can't stand having less than 5 skill points a level in D&D. All my recent characters have gotten at least 7 skill points a level. Anyway, it more goes down to "what good is their str if they can't hit me?". Even in Devil May Cry 3 I was a trickster and was rarely hit. I guess I just like to attack things from the right angle for the least amount of energy spent. As a DM I actually reward players who can find non-combat solutions to combat situations.

yes it is.

I'm usually the uncomplicated damage soaking thickie. If you've got one of those "plan" things that are so popular, have me be the distraction. I just charge right into the fray and play entirely by reflex.

Always the one who's never terribly good at his role. Except healing. Because healing requires no more skill than the level of a chimp's instincts.

Excluding FPSs. Darned FPSs. People don't stop getting a bullet or twelve in the face every few seconds.

I usually play the charismatic thief or the mage. Warriors just don't do it for me in RPGs.

I'm always the Rogue. It best fits my playstyle and the other slots are usually filled in anyway.

Except when I played Monday Night Combat, because there were always like 5 Ninjas....

I'm usually the corpse on the floor. Covered in blood. Getting kicked. Just kidding, I like to be stealthy but if that fails then I'll go in all guns blazing which is why I like Deus Ex so much.

A melee character, absolutely. Almost always a straightforward rogue who attacks quickly and deals a whole lot of damage and doesn't hide in the shadows.

I'm normally a rifleman for fps's, preferring the adaptability of speed and firepower.
In rpg's, I'm a warrior. It feels dishonorable to kill a worthy opponent with an arrow from 100 meters.
But, I still try to fit most roles; versatility is my game.

If its a MMO then almost always tank.

If its a solo game then I am a jack of all trades.

Support. It's usually a Mage with a nice combination of healing magic and damage magic. Sometimes I play as a sturdy warrior that can dish it out and take it.
