So. I'm bored as hell with all of the Halo, Call of Duty and Battlefield 3 games I own. Have already completed the mass effect trilogy twice. Am not interested in Arkham city right now. L.A. Noire and the splinter cell games I have are deep pits of frustration (ditto assassin's creed), and I just finished all of portal 2. I would play skyrim...if I owned it.
So here's where you suggest great games that I might buy if sufficiently convinced, I won't even get them used, but brand spanking new to support the developer the best I can. (Do not suggest a new console or games exclusive to other consoles, i'm not that bored yet)

I should have mentioned, I also have and am bored of minecraft as well, at least the 360 version because it doesn't have as much to do as the pc version yet. I am mostly bored with shooters and puzzle games.

You like FPS and Puzzlers? Try Xotic its a FPS with Highscore (not bulletstorm but its own hybrid genre), give it a try imo theres a good chance it will suit you since it has shmup styled highscore in it that suites a puzzle gamers brain.

Also Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes

I 2nd Vanquish

Dragon's dogma if you think skyrim might be okay, but like more action based combat. (Warning, your pawns won't shut up, and having to run everywhere gets a bit annoying, but otherwise it's an awesome game.)

Or maybe try Kingdoms of Amalur. Great rpg gameplay with action combat and a beautiful world if you don't mind a very stylized look. The story gets really good too later into the game. The only problem with it is the characters in the story...they're generally very stereotypical and bland.

Well, there is Skyrim, you say your only barrier for not playing it was not owning it, then go on to say you want some suggestions for games to buy. Seems the first choice.

IF not then it really depends on what kind of game you're looking to play. I can personally recommend the following;

Red Dead Redemption
Mafia 2
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Bioshock 1&2
Dead Rising 1&2
Minecraft
The Half life series
Saints Row 2
Darksiders

Again, it all really depends on what genre you're looking at. Most of the above games should be pretty cheap now, as most of them are over a year old.

This.

My OTHER recommendations include:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Bioshock (get the second only if you really can't get enough of the first. It's not as bad as people say, it just doesn't live up to the first game)
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Definately get Fallout New Vegas Ultimate edition. I have easily put over 300 hours into that game with no dlc at all.
Skyrim(but you are better off on the pc)
Witcher 2(now for x-box 360 :) )
yeah don't have many 360 games right now...(get knights of the old republic 1 and 2 for pc kotor 1 is 10 on steam and 2 is like 15 on amazon)

Deadly Premonition.

It is one of the most unique and hilarious games you will ever play, plus it's cheap at $20 max.

Just get Dark Souls and you will be set until Christmas.

It is by far the best game I own on my 360.

If your in the UK go sign yourself up to lovefilm, 15.99 a month 3 discs at a time, unlimited streaming of the video service and their whole 360, wii and ps3 collection. Oh and no late fees.

But if your in the US an looking for something to buy cheap and lasting buy the Orange box or something.

Damn, ninja'd

Seriously though, if you're able to forgive minor visual flaws and don't have a problem with potentionally difficult scenarios, then Dark Souls is a gem. I've spent too many nights in that dark world with my main character and yet I want to create at least two more characters. If you like it then you will get hooked directly.

If we might have swayed you, then I suggest that you watch some trailers for the game in order to "get in da zone".

I'd say Dragon's Dogma or Dark Souls if you like a bit of fantasy with your action. DD is faster and flashier, while DS is more methodical and a bit tougher. Both are smart and challenging games that make you think about what you're doing (and what the story is doing).

Also, what about The Witcher 2? Or Skyrim since you said you'd play it anyway? Maybe now's a good time to try it.

Skyrim!

I've put in 200 hours already and I'm still not done with it.

Edit: completely random and off topic but I just noticed that you can report yourself. Weird.

Condemned. And since your 360 ought to be backwards compatible, try Psychonauts for the Xbox, or the Fatal Frames and Silent Hills. Alan Wake is alright, as is Silent Hill Downpour and Homecoming. Bastion's supposed to be pretty good. Shadows of the Damned, Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions. Viva Pinata, though I don't know if that's considered a puzzle game.

Divinity 2: DKS. Just went to Gamestop the other day and it's $20 new. If you're a fan at all of older, less forgiving RPGs, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
