I fail to see why they would give you half off for such a stupid reason.
I fail to see why you think I would have a camera with me...
If you're really desperate for proof, I suppose I could go steal the security tape...
(If anyone who works there see's this, I'm joking, I'm not going to pull that shit again)

And as to why they would do it... Fuck if I know, I wasn't even expecting him to let me talk through the announcement mcguffin.

I know why, look at SpectacularWebHead, he loves that store now and will GO BACK THERE AGAIN! (Probably) It's why companies do it, to increase the customers loyalty so they will spend more money at their stores. The person working at the store realized that (Or their boss did anyway) so they took advantage of this.

It's all about expanding the brand Matthew :3

Billy Dee would be ashamed....

Yeah I'm gonna call bullshit. Or at least exaggeration. 50% seems pretty steep. Probably more than staff discount.

That sounds awesome.

The only similiar thing that happend to me was when I bhought the Blu-Ray collection of Back To The Future and which I only had to buy 20SEK(Roughly 2$) and the price for it was 599SEK(Roughly 59$).

I think it was some kind of misstake but it's not like I would point it out.

That was an awesome day.

So, basically, your most awesome experience in a store, ever.
If you can connect it to mass effect, you get brownie points.
God damn, that is awesome! I envy you to be a part of something like that!

My best store moment was in the GAMEX convention last year when I bought the Myst trilogy bundle which is a hefty book on a thousand pages, looking just like a Descriptive book.

When I asked for it, the girl behind the counter hesitantly brought me the book she had a serious face and looked me in the eyes "I should warn you though. Because the one thing I know about these books, is that the doors they open... don't close behind you".

Awesome reference moment was awesome.

I actually have one! So I was with this friend and he had some other friend with him who I had never met. Anyway at this point I had really long hair and was wearing a black shirt, so to freak out the other guy I took my glasses off so my hair was over my eyes and talked all monotone to make him think I was like some super emo (I'm not emo at all). Eventually he caught on to the fact that it was an act because the kid I knew was laughing. I kept it up anyway. So we decided to go out and get donuts with me still "emo." I freaked out the guy in the donut store so much he told the kids mom (we were in middle school at the time) that if I left we would get a free donut. I did and sure enough, free donut!

I fail to see why they wouldn't. Some people are just awesome like that.
Because you take a hit on profits for what is essentially a stupid reason.
Its only a stupid reason to some. To others its a perfectly justifiable albeit unorthodox reason, but still reason enough.

I was in Morrisons last year and was going to use one of the self serve checkouts to pay for my stuff. I go to put the money in the machine but it won't accept my money. The staff member looking after the checkouts walks over and pulls a £20 note out of the change/rejected notes slot and sticks it into the machine which it accepts while I stand there with my money still in my hand in a shocked state.

It took so much will power not to say anything.

Sounds really cool, I've never played mass effect so I wouldn't have got it. In fact I've never heard of a shop called Forbidden Planet.
Wow, really? What country are you in?
(If it's america then...I don't know what to say, you guys invented it.)
I live in Scotland but I haven't seen one in England when I lived there. I haven't lived in large cities so that could be a reason why I haven't seen one.

The title is "... my favourite store in central London" so I'd think that the country of origin is pretty obvious.

D: Out-meme'd!

Look I don't particularly want to cause an argument in a thread like this.

But I wasn't saying "There's no way he'd lie! He's not HITLER!" or anything, I was just saying that even if the story isn't true, who cares. It's kind of a fun story and it seemed like you were just undermining it to seem cool. Because honestly, there's a whole bunch of threads that could possibly be based on half-truths or complete fabrications. Heck, if I'm talking to a bunch of friends IRL and one is telling a story that sounds a tad over the top I'd be annoyed if someone said "PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, you're lying!"
