I'm confused about how the BBB rate customer service?

Now I'm not surprised that Valve got a bad overall rating, but the lowest rating for customer service seems odd (I've only ever had an issue twice, one of which was because of something I had done wrong and another being third party related problems).

But what I'm scratching my head about is how Valve got an F, but somehow Walmart got an A and Comcast got a B. Now I've never dealt with Comcast (though is someone has something good to say, it would be the first I've herd) but Walmart is not an A for customer service, it's not even passable.

So I have to wonder, how does the Better Business Bureau rate customer service?

Did you pay to have your review stuff fixed?

If you answered no, you have a bad grade. If you answered yes, you have a good grade!

this sadly makes sense. I mean Comcast has been blasted repeatedly for their horrible customer service including harassing their customers who tried to get rid of them and calling their customers names on their bills if they dont like them.

I have never heard of Steam being assholes. Slow, sure. Sometimes feels like wringing blood from a stone, sure, but not assholes.

Hell i had an issue with a game not working on Steam and they gave it to me for free even though it was Amazons fault (Amazon sold me and my friend used game keys)

tippy2k2 hit the nail on the head with Thor's mighty hammer, Mjolnir. It funny how money seems to run everything, even what it supposed to be a consumer watchdog group. Chances are good that big companies like Walmart and Comcast may pay to up their scores but know that a perfect record would be impossible to believe, with all of the stories about bad customer service floating around the internet. Comcast just settled for a B to give people a false sense of security, by making them thing those stories are rare and overblown. Valve might not have ever thought of paying in to the BBB's protection racket, hence why they got an F.

To make the BBB just sound even better [/sarcasm], watch the last few seconds of this news video [https://youtu.be/vZq4UnkgZQI?t=4m18s] about Best Buy's incompetent Geek Squad. The reporter says the Geek Squads in Oregon were getting an F, until the GS headquarters asked for the reports to be consolidated with the reports from Minnesota. After that, the grade became an A. Isn't that nice? If you're a big enough company with localized ratings, all you have to do to boost one area that is failing is give 'em a call or send an email and all will be well within a day.

Well, if the website is anything to go by:

Factors that lowered the rating for Valve Corporation include:

717 complaint(s) filed against business
Failure to respond to 503 complaint(s) filed against business
17 complaint(s) filed against business that were not resolved
Business has failed to resolve underlying cause(s) of a pattern of complaints

Factors that raised the rating for Valve Corporation include:

Length of time business has been operating

In short, it doesn't seem like Valve really likes using the BBB as a guide on how to resolve complaints. They also are slightly on the negative side in reviews. [http://www.bbb.org/alaskaoregonwesternwashington/business-reviews/computer-software-publishers-and-developers/valve-corporation-in-bellevue-wa-27030704/customer-reviews] In other words, the BBB mostly gets the complaints that gamers have about Valve, not the praise they receive in other areas.

Edit: Oh yeah, and they aren't accredited. That might make the BBB more harsh when grading them.

Well while others might be just as bad at fixing shit the main problem with Valve is they don't respond, it is more likely that something will get fixed then them actually telling you anything.

And they got this grade last year, with all the problems compiled and pointed out to Valve, those exact same problems were there again now and I highly doubt there will be something different by next year.
