okay, so firstly, is the why i'm doing this

Why: did you ever find yourself ruining oblivion for yourself by fast travelling everywhere, waiting in place for 14 hours for an npc to show up or by naming your character Gareth Gobelcoque. So I am adhering to a few simple rules for my first (and possibly subsequent) Skyrim run-through. maybe you'd like to join me in this quest?

1. Naming your character as the races in the game actually would. As a guide (or even just a starting template for you to modify the name) here is a link to a name generator:
http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=modding_data/ngen

2. Never using fast travel. When a quest wants you to cross the map, get to hiking. you're RP'ing after all, enjoy the adventure, find new adventures along the way.

3. Not using the "Wait" system for more than an hour. how long have you stood in one exact place for 19 hours waiting for a person to show up there? Are you a stalker? don't be creepy, go do other things in the meantime. at the very least, find a bed to sleep a few hours away.

4. Turn off dialogue subtitles and actually listen to what the NPC's are saying. Too often in Oblivion i found myself reading the whole text and skipping their voicing of it. Which was okay for oblivion, because its not like the 3 voice actors in that game even tried very hard, but in Skyrim, we should let ourselves experience all the dialogue.

so these are my simple rules for making skyrim a much more immersive, deep RP experience, and I'd like to know what you plan on doing to improve your experience with Skyrim? anything you think I should add to this list?

That's how I [played my second run of oblivion! lol my exact rules!

I of course plan to do it on my first run through this time just to keep immersion.
I do kinda cheat when I'm in a rush to finish a quest before I gotta go to work or something.

Though I do turn on subtitles so as not to wake roomies

That's how I played Fallout 3. I love doin' that, really getting into the RP aspect of it.

When I pick up Skyrim, that's definitely how I'll try to play it.

How about not loading a saved game when you get a poor outcome from a quest. Instead, live with the action.

Rules I already planned to play by.

You should make a group. We could share experiences, in character for a laugh and/or epicness.

Yeah, when a game makes vocal sounds that I don't understand, I curse out developers for not including subtitles. I guess you can't read my shorthand, I also guess that I might not hear/understand every snip of dialog in the game. I agree with all your other points though, but not the subtitles part.
"there is nothing that can be more dumb than not having subtitles on for games."

and i respectfully disagree. go talk to someone right now and look right around their waist. tell me what words you see pop up. and if you don't understand them, isn't that a part of life?

absolutely! i found myself doing that a few times in oblivion, reloading cause a specific character died during my quest, or i got spotted or lost my bonus for whatever reason. even once, i reloaded when i closed an oblivion gate right after a daedra disarmed me, and i lost Dawnfang/Duskfang there. it is something that i should have had to live with.
