So I start reading or watching reviews that talk about how great a game is, only to play it on pc and get something like Rage. For console gamers look at PS3 and PC reviews for BF3, but then fail to mention the graphical problem for 360 users.

Read reviews from people for that specific platform then. Especially with PC games.

It's always important to make sure you get a review of a game for the right console; there's often those little differences that really affect gameplay.

Reviews is especially important for PC games, since games can have problems on different rigs. Some PC rigs had almost no trouble with RAGE whatsoever, while I'm pretty sure that (at launch at least), many ATI cards which really should have had no issue with running the game were practically crippled when trying to do so.

So yeah, focus on the specific platform and look at multiple reviews, especially with PC games.

I suggest the Onion's AV Club. They gave Rage a C and Uncharted 3 also a C. They're pretty hype-proof, but not overly critical.

Why would you get angry because with reviews? I mean, I presume you're not paying for them, so they're just a service for you to use if you feel like it, right?

That's kind of.. dumb. Read reviews for your platform, then.

As much as I like that site, their video game coverage is pretty weak (in my humble opinion, anyway). I'll take Destructoid or Edge any day over them.

I just don't bother to read reviews. For the most part, reviewers just try to tell their audience what they want to hear, and you can pretty much guess what score a game will get before it's even been released, and that's before you even take into account that score systems are a bloody stupid idea, that tell you nothing about the actual content of the game.

If a game's premise intrigues you, watch gameplay, if you like the look of the gameplay, give it a try. I've found I'm making far better purcahses since I stopped relying on review websites for information, and started forming my own opinions, even if I haven't played the game yet.
