Wait. You're coming to a foreign country and you want to bring games? Trust me, this country is pretty great. You won't need games.

A volley ball, for beach volley ball. My sources indicate it's actually summer in Australia, queer as that may seem.

Clooose, but no cigar.
Late Spring, but hot enough to be mid-Summer.

OT: BRING EVERYTHING.
Our government is seriously against people buying games for a good price (~$100 for ONE GAME) so bring them all, or an many as you can fit, plus the console, and make sure YOU DON'T GO OUTSIDE.
Our wildlife is murderous.

But it will be summer during Christmas, which is when the OP is visiting.

I live in New Zealand, so I am purchasing the games here

Thanks for being on topic, but be more specific

In before people come in and yammer on about how much Australia apparently hates gaming. Whatever.

OT: So, what games have you got, exactly?

You know, Australia isn't that remote. We have the same games they have in other countries, more or less. There's no spe..... oh fuck it, get "Extreme Kangaroo Bush Zombies 2" I've heard it's really good.

Any game that involves giant spiders, gargantuan jellyfish, and fuzzy, killer animals. You are definitely going to need some defensive training.

I think the Final Fantasy series will work.

Bring something ongoing, maybe cooperative or low-scale multi-player. I would reccomend PC, since Xbox Live is usually at least a little laggy (and I don't know about PS3). If you want more games once you're here, go indie titles or at the very least buy off Steam, if your net can take the hit. It's better for everyone.

I'm not sure what to suggest exactly, but the more you can get out of the gameplay, the better. Something story-driven may be something more useful outside of a holiday. The Fallouts would be a good choice, but I'm guessing you've played them already...

It ALL depends on what console you're playing on.. I strictly play on a PC, so that's the only advice I can give.

Hmm... RPG game.. I feel like I've said the name of this game several times on this site.. But hey, bring Morrowind! If you've already played it it's still great, if you haven't played it then prepare to get amused!!

FPS? How about Return to Castle Wolfenstein? That should keep you entertained..

Since holidays are about traditions I think you should bring some good old games with you. Get some of that good old child happiness back : )

Maybe you should bring an older RPG.. Like some of the older Final Fantasy games? Like I-VI..

But in general.. Bring a game you REALLY liked 10 years ago.. or 5 years ago..

If I were to bring 2 games on a hollyday I think I'd bring AOEII (to make some new campaigns) and a game for light entertainment.. Like.. Counter-Strike..

(you know.. You can actually make an RPG-ish campaign in AOEII.. You just need a ton of triggers...)
