I have no idea. In the LDS religion, you are sent where you are needed. It could could be Topeka, Kansas or it could be Sierra Leone, Africa. As long as they don't send me any place hot though, I legit do not care.
But like, what if they send you some place without internet? I don't know what they promise you in the Mormon religion, but all the salvation in the afterlife can't be worth that! I'd die!

Arnoxthe1 said:
I might actually just choose to conceal my gender actually. :3 But refer to me with whatever pronoun you'd like.
Oh, ok then. I usually like to use the right one because 'they' is WRONG and PLURAL, but if that's the way you want it I have no choice. Just like all those other buggers who don't set their profile gender.

Yeah this site saw some good times, it's a shame that it's a done with now. Well I'll be hanging around till the plug is pulled.
I definitely will! I remember you from back when you had the Shenlong avatar! I usually read your posts even when I was skimming a thread.

Yeah, it's gonna be weird not coming here when the Escapist finally shuts down.

Met some good people at the two Escapist Expos, and had a blast both times too. Like Redlin, I'm gonna be here until the lights go out and we're all booted out.

Gonna be a sad day when that happens.

Well thanks. I guess I always felt overshadowed by the more prominent members. ...most of which have left.

Silly question but any chance of an expo these days? Finally at a point I can afford to travel for a week. Wouldn't mind meeting a few of you in person...

Dude, I wish.

I know the last Expo damn near killed the site in terms of money that was spent on it. I know they couldn't afford another one after the last one, and then... things... happened.

I know I wouldn't mind seeing some people from here and some old faces like Taco and Fappy again. Damn good times. I think at this point it's just if you happen to be somewhere on vacation and there's an Escapist there that's your best chance of a meet up.

There is Escapism UK though. A bunch of UK Escapists get together for several days and hang out. You might manage to go there.

I've not been as active as some of you guys. But, last year, I actually had the worst year of my life. I got really ill and I lost my job (which I loved). I'm sort of on the up-ish now, but I don't think I'll ever truly recover from it.

The Escapist and you guys in the community actually helped me to keep my mind active away from society (which I really couldn't face at the time). It really helped me through some shit. So, yeah, if it does go (still not 100% it will), I will miss you guys as well. I'll always remember the forum for taking my mind off my problems at a time that was incredibly hard for me with some fun discussions about all sorts of stuff.

If you're ever in the Atlanta area for some reason I'm still here!

i feel like we are on the titanic and we all say goodbye before the ship sink !

alright, wow, been a while since the day i shifted here from the ctrl+alt+del forums when they got too toxic. I became a mom twice in my time here. the escapist help me goes through some hard night where the baby didnt wanted to sleep and that i had to stay awake with the baby in my arms. it's really a shame to see the site going down, it used to be such a great site and such a great community.

i dont think i will particulary be remembered as an active poster here, but i do have good memory of some of you guys.

Well, technically, when you're an LDS missionary, you're not allowed to use the internet at all no matter where you are or what tablets or phones you're given unless it's for religious business and email. You're also not allowed to listen to any music on your own that isn't church music, you can't watch TV, you can't watch any movies, and you, of course, can't play any games.

These restrictive measures are there so for those two years, you can focus completely on having the Holy Ghost with you at all times. It also just plain builds character and discipline and makes you get off your ass and do something that actually means something with your life.

It's an active sacrifice, but honestly, I'm gonna tell you something. For those two years, you'll be FAR too busy to care about most of that anyway.

I've been invited numerous times, but I'm so damn broke that I can never go! Hopefully I can make it one of these times since I've heard it's a blast.

No... games... for two years...

Well hopefully you pull it off. Two years is a long time, working that hard with no fun can burn you out. Good luck!

Heh, don't worry. Literally everyone I've ever talked to who has been on a mission has said that it was one of the best experiences of their lives.

I've been on and off for years now. For the last couple I've still been checking in in the vain hope for a resurgence of the gaming news that originally drew me in here and maybe a little of the discussions I would dip my toes in. I load the home page and dejectedly watch the new Zero Punctuation video when that hope is once again dashed across the rocks. This is a slow and painful death...

It's the weirdest thing.

As long as I've been a member of this forums, I felt like a tolerated outsider. Yet it's home. A digital oasis.

There will come a time when the lights go out. Here's a preemptive cheers to all of you that became a cornerstone of this oasis. I thank every one of you for this decade of my life. I mean that.

Until then... If last call is a-coming? Let's spend every minute partying like we just got here.
