Hello everyone, I have a question.
Regardless of how old we all are now, we were all kids at one point or another. And, when we were kids, we probably did a few things that upset our parents, causing them to "ground" us, or put us on time-out or something of the like.

So, my question is this:What is the most ridiculous reason your parents have given you for "grounding" you.

I may not have worded my question all that well, I'm only operating on about 2 hours of sleep, so I'll give you and example of a time I was grounded. So you understand what I'm looking for.

One day, I decided to go for a walk, it was cold out, so I put up my hood on my jacket I was wearing. When I came home, my dad looked at me and said "Brett! Why are you wearing a hood? Are you doing drugs? Only people who do drugs wear hoods. You're grounded!" I couldn't believe that I was honestly being grounded for having worn my hood to help keep my ears warm.

I never got "grounded" as a child.

I guess there's not much culture for grounding where I live.

Don't lie, you were hiding all your cocaine in your hood. Kids these days, with their cocaine fueled hoodies.

I honestly had pretty cool parents so I only got grounded when I more or less deserved it. Besides, what does getting grounded even mean for today's kids? You've got constant electronic entertainment with handhelds, cell phones, internet access from every corner of your room, etc.

My parents didnt believe in grounding. But then, I was a well behaved child. Again, I put that down to being brought up well :)

I never really did anything to really tick off my parents.

when they did ground me it was for a legitment reason. such as not doing important projects. soo i shall drag my friend into it. Let's call him Carl.

Carl has been told by his parents that he can not go out on friday nights because his dad is working a late shift and if he is not home then he can not go out even though his mum his home and could easily drive him home. HE has also never slept over at a friends house before. May i state that he is twenty one.

I rarely got grounded for more than a day to be honest. My parents just never bothered because I'm the youngest and they'd been through all that shit before lol.

Once, when I was 6 I cut up the back of my pyjama bottoms. I realised what I'd done was wrong so when I went to say goodnight, I put them on th wrong way. Unfortunately my parents noticed when I turned around to go to bed lol XD More of a stupid thing for me to do rather than my parents...

I never left the house if I could help it. NEVER. As punishment my parents made me take walks outside around the neighbourhood...

I never got grounded, I was actually fairly well behaved and my dad is more prone to getting into trouble with my mum as he is quite a mischievous guy who loves to tease her and wind her up :)

When I was younger I was only grounded once. Apparently stumbling through the house drunk when you're 14 with 2 girls when my parents were on "vacation" was a terrible idea. The extent of my grounding was a weekend without friends. Serious business.

I've only been grounded once. My parents realised how futile it was after I got up at 5 AM, climbed over the fence, got on a tram and went out before they realised I'd gone.

I don't really remember what it was for. I think my parents attempted to punish me into having a life when I was 10. It worked, because I did go out, but it did seem pretty stupid and redundant. Nowadays they tell me not to go out so much. Funny how things have changed.

Ok, but it was only a little bit of cocaine. So it doesn't count! (Joking.)

I never really got grounded multiple times I came home from a night out when they just awoke. (Aka around 9) all they did say that I shouldnt do it again. And left me alone.

Grouding is stupid thank god my parents never did it to me. If I would get grounded everytime I had my hoodie on I would never leave the house.

And seriously almost everyone has atleast a TV or Computer in their room (Or both) or in the case of my brother he has a PS3 too. (That makes 3) Most of us are already in their room most of the time so sending a kid to their room only not to come out doesnt really matter to them.

I didn't get grounded, if I misbehaved I had to go play outside for a few hours.

Which pretty much says it all really. Most ridiculous reason was because I refused to let some kid from down the street play on my SNES, idiots.

Smoking when I was ten.

So yeah, I guess I did deserve it really, except it was my mother's cigarettes. Yay hypocrisy!

Ironically enough smoking makes me have coughing fits if I'm around it now.

Honestly, the dumbest thing I was ever grounded for? My mom thought she smelled pot in my room and I was grounded for not sharing.

I'll just let that one sit for a while. Strangely enough for me, I still don't do drugs. I was lucky (and smart) enough to see what they did to my parents and avoid them.
