OK so it all started yesterday when I went to go turn on my computer it took several tries to get a proper start up but I didn't think anything of it since my computer seemed to run perfectly fine. now than today I figured I would play some more Minecraft since I just discovered a new mine now no less than 10 minutes into the game my computer just shuts off and I tried playing different games but the same problems occurred, they would just shut off soon after starting... and it's not like the system crashes or stops responding or freezes it just shuts off...
now TL;DR:
anytime I start playing a game my computer just shuts off, what can cause this problem? What is your diagnoses?

Do you have a sufficient power source? Have you recently added any hardware (video cards, hard drives, etc.) to your system which could be drawing extra power? Does your case have adequate ventilation? When was the last time you blew the dust out of heat sinks and fans?

That's where I'd start.

Might be malware. Recently AVG rooted out and killed something that was deep in my registry and causing my computer to blue screen of death me randomly. Hopefully it died, if not I'll have to purge my system and start over >_>

[sub][sub]Sorry I can't help with your problem man. I'm the wrong person to ask.[/sub][/sub]

I have already cleaned it, made sure each fan works, taken the front cover off of my case for better ventilation, checked the temp, currently at 29 C or 84 F, but since my tech support is out getting drunk tonight I can't check my power supply which I thought might be the problem...<.<

I've already run several virus scans... they came up with nothing...<.<

Maybe to much dust inside?
I've cleaned it already and there wasn't much dust anyway since I clean it weekly...<.<

Probably hardware. (NOTE: I assume not "proper start up" to mean no POST. Please specify exactly what happens when it fails to start to give us a better idea.)

The repeated-tries-to-start sounds like motherboard, but the shutdown part doesn't. If I had to guess I'd say overheating, probably CPU. Cleaned the dust out lately? What's your CPU's average running temperature?

If the system's not dusty, then there's no way of telling for sure short of doing some diagnostics. If it runs OK just browsing the Internet for an hour or more, then it's only happening when something gets stressed. Download Prime95 and run it in torture test mode. If it shuts down then you know it's not vidcard. If it can run that OK then it's something stressed in a game but not in Prime95, which is generally the video card (or perhaps the PSU since that's what sends power to the vidcard).

DivX files may have been corrupted by bad sectors maybe... or corrupted drivers. All I can think of that would make applications crash without other problems would be the files that allow communications between OS and games, PhysX etc. Also heating is an obvious option. Though in my experience that results in a full PC reboot. Failing that I would say it is a good old virus.

well I know it's not overheating actually the temperature is lower than usual, only 84 F or 29 C, and yes it's only in game I can run anything else...<.< I'll try prime95

yeah the Torture test isn't causing any problems...<.<

Have you tried taking you videocard out and putting/plugging it back in? Have you tried starting a game up on you onboard video (if you have one)?

Also can you post your specs and OS?

Edit.

It's probably you videocard overheating. Install System Info for Windows (siw.exe) and check the sensor menu. If it is your VGA try taking it out and sniff it if it smells burned. You can also try taking your VGAs fan apart to see if there is dust build-up in it.

Well it sounds like a hardware issue, but does it really only happen when you start up games?

Anyway I had this problem a couple of months ago, all worked well until my graphics card got overloaded, and the comp would just shut off.
As you already stated you cleaned the dust and checked the fans I'll move on to the next thing.
If you are in any way tech savvy (otherwise let someone who is do it), take out your graphics card and check the capacitors (if you don't know what they are check them out on google), they should all be intact with a flat top, if any of them are burst or inflated then this is the culprit.
If only one or two are malfunctioning it will result in a mostly stable card, and only go haywire once the power load is reaching it's peek.

Then if the graphics card looks ok, check all the other capacitors on the motherboard, they can cause a simmilar sort of problem, but they usually pop-up all over the place.

And if the MB is ok, go to the power supply.
If you have a functioning spare(maybe borrow it from another computer) the simplest thing is to disconnect the current one and try running with the spare, if the issues stopped then you found the bad boy.

Fixing it is another thing, while you can replace any major electronic parts (capacitors, resistors,...) you do need some knowledge of electronics and soldering, so I would mostly advise to replace the part all together.

Thanks, best advise I got all night...
I know my way around my computer but I'll just let my dad take care of it so I don't break anything...<.< yeah it only happens when I start games, any kind from flash to Fallout 3, and on initial start up, but after that I can run any program I want except games...
