That seems more like loosing weigh than overall fitness.

What I'm not understanding is how can excercising help? I know muscle ways more than fat, but I'm not looking to add muscle. I'm trying to increase my wasteline, then worry about everything else.

I never thought I'd have to get excercise to mantain a healthy weight. I thought a high metabolism was a gift.

Hey I'm worse off than you (and American) 16 years old, 5' 6", 100 lbs. And an avid junk food eater who usually goes for seconds.

Stupid metabolism...
I;d kill for you're metabolism lol. I lose weight in school and gain it at home...I'd lost 32 pounds but put it all back on this summer...curse being home...

Eating junk food isn't the best way to gain weight, remember, even fat people can be healthy (I am an example, 14, 5'7", 160 pounds, but I can outrun a quarter of my class and out lift 8/10ths of them), and vice versa skinny people can be unhealthy.
If you want to gain weight you can try and gain muscle weight instead of fat, great thing is after a month or so you'll gain weight faster than you would with eating too much, because muscle is heavier than fat.

I find this dilemma awfully bemusing, perplexing, and befuddling.

Let me get this straight: You want to gain weight, but you just want to be heavier, not stronger?

I would not advise anyone to do that, even if you are the scrawniest thing alive. If you're really that skinny, just eat a lot of healthy proteins, carbs, and such. Fruits and vegetables as always, of course. Exercise modestly just so that you aren't completely immobile and the stuff is going to the right places. Don't over-exercise, but find a comfortable routine, and stick with a wide variety of food that helps a growing teenager like yourself.

Man, I should get paid for this.

Okay, so from what I'm getting from all this is that overall, eating healthy and excercising is how you mantain a healthy weight. What I'm wondering is then why are so many people obese? I've known people of all ages my whole life that are fat. You can't watch one commercial break without atleast one weight loss product. So where's all the love for skinny people?

People don't wanna do the work it takes to maintain a healthy weight. As someone who has tried with varying degrees of success in the past it is a very hard thing to do, if only people would see how great it feels to see the results.

Honestly, since your metabolism is so high, eating more will just speed it up further.

You might want to talk to a doctor about this.

What I meant is that you can go and ask away in there. Those people are real helpful y'know. Just gorging on a lot of food with reckless abandon could end up being worse for you.

Work out, fat-ass. You want to eat a lot of food? Justify it. If you do cardio, strength and all that in a day, and eat as much as you can, you'll get uber fit. Also, in terms fot the environment, being fat is VERY bad. Cattle emits 18% of all greenhouse gas emissions. ALL greenhouse gas emissions, coal, cars, natural gas, everything. Beef should be eaten as a treat because it's so bad, but food in general (and everything in the western world) has gone through way to much to be not bad for the environment. Don't eat more than you need. Chicken and fish is best for your body and the environment Eat vegetables, keep your carbohydrates down, and you'll eventually get big through working out. But, if you're skinny, it probably means you are more attractive, intelligent, and will live longer than those who aren't. Be proud of you're superiority, but don't flaunt it. Not flaunting you're superiority is a key part of being better than everyone else. Take it from me. And stop eating junk food. Seriously. Eat healthy and work out, and you'll get far more satisfaction in the long run than you will by eating junk food and trying to get fat. Also, the most important thing, you have to be patient when trying to change yourself. Think in terms of months, maybe weeks. Keep a steady habit. And again, trying to get fat, by eating junk food, is a terrible idea. Carbohydrates and salt (sodium) to to mention fat make it harder for you to concentrate, wear down just about everything in you, and, just don't do it. Even if you don't want to work out (or not a lot) DO NOT try to get fat. Good lord, you're already awesome by being skinny like me, don't try to fit in with the minions by becoming a lesser being. Make them want to fit in with you. Christ, don't get fat! What a terrible idea! Do you want to get stupid, too?!

Yeah, I'm about 6 feet tall and around 120, I have the same situation as you. Only difference is, I don't want to gain weight. Trying to gain weight isn't exactley the healthiest thing you can do. Especially by trying to eat as much junk food as possible.

I don't want to get fat, in general. I just want to overall increase my weight up to 160-170, and increase my wasteline enough that my jeans will fit. (I never get tired of hearing how stupid it sounds when I type that.)

And for the record, are the people saying they are 6 foot 120-130 pounds men or women? I couldn't imagine being 6-foot 125 pounds as a man. If I dropped twenty pounds, I'd be dead.

eat lots of protein and carbs, ie rice and potatoes

the thing is you're still young, you will get a lot of the weight soon enough. your body is just adjusting to everything, soon enough you'll bulk out

I'll never understand this. I fluctuate from about 73-83 kilograms, dropping 10 kilograms every 3 months or so, then gaining it again over the next month or two. This all depends on whether I do weights or not, but even then I don't really do much to gain the muscle. Oh I'm just over 6'1" . I'm a bit like Christian Bale; a lame half-assed Mr. Bale.

Just eat healthy, get a bit more protein in your diet (just because you're not fat, doesn't mean that too much fast food won't kill you sooner or later), and you should be okay.

Of coarse there are other options........(I just couldn't help but bring that up).

Because we're all too focused on the movie star look. The only issue people have is with us "fat" people (Yes, we're always considered fat even if we have high muscle content), they don't care about the scrawny people because they're neither the majority nor marketable.
