I'm looking for a certain breed of games.

I gotta use Brink as an example. It wasn't a perfect game by any means, but it did do some things right.

1: It had bots
2: It had classes that were meaningful to the battlefield, and had unique objectives for each. Soldiers were needed to plant bombs, Operatives stole and hacked things, engineers were able to set up turrets and repair/build barriers and were needed to repair some stuff, and new paths, and so forth. Each class gave some unique benefits. Bots could decently fill in job gaps. No one person could really do everything like Mass Effect 3 MP where everyone had the ability to play medic, and hacker, and what not.

So I'm looking for games similar to Brink in those 2 regards. Preferrably on consoles, and I'd -really- like it if these games had gender select. It's not utterly necessary that they have gender select, but if I can get the option, I certainly want it!

I definitely want to avoid MMORPG type games.

I could point you to the Star Wars: Battlefront series of games. They fill in most of you requirements; bots are available and there are several distinct player classes. Soldiers carry assault rifles, engineers can repair vehicles and dedicated AT troops can fire anti-armour rockets and lay mines. The list is not exhaustive; other classes do exist besides those mentioned. There are even space battles and, now that DICE has announced that there will be a third Battlefront title (adding to the two that exist currently) the series has a good shot of continuing. Bot AI is reasonably competent as well.
There is no gender select option and I do not know which, if any, consoles carry the titles but you may want to look it up regardless.
You can also look at Blacklight: Retribution, a free-to-play FPS that does feature male or female entities for the player character in addition to all of the previous. I have not played the game but I was involved in some aspects of its release. I do not think that bots are available and specific player objectives are nigh non-existent.
But the option exists, regardless.
Good luck to you in your search, mate.

If you don't mind playing older games, Enemy Territory:Quake Wars is basically Brink before Brink was around, not sure how active it's multiplayer is after all this time though.

Eve Dust 514?
I don't know much about it, but there are 4 classes and you can pick gender, also it's on the ps3.

Godammit, you just had to mention Battlefront 2, now I have to reinstall it again. Of course, it doesn't help that I rewatched all the films again recently...

I played the heck out of Battlefront 1 and 2, and am looking forward to the next one, but it seemed like a lot of classes didn't have unique objectives/jobs. They just killed stuff differently.
Still, the game has fond memories save a friend whom I fell out of contact with liked to troll me by taking a bit of my health bar by shooting me on purpose.

I'll look more into Blacklight, but it's going to have to be the ps4 version. My laptop's pretty weak, and I'm not a fan of all the thuings that can go wrong weith a PC. :/

I'll look into that.
Dead communities are why I relish bots so much. They can help fill the void.

Sadly it's more a game where you kill people in different ways than actually have a major purpose to your class. Also it's a bit too Pay to Win, and the matchmaking is terrible pitting high ranked corps members vs randoms with indifference. That never goes well. :/

Team Fortress 2 has bot support now, and it's free on PC/Mac/Linux.
I'll have to look into that, then.

Update: http://www.yougamers.com/?mainnavi=true and http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri tell me any of the PC games listed/suggested cannot be run by my laptop or I just barely can. :/

Actually installed Enemy Territory:Quake Wars not to long ago, there where a few servers running with decent number of players. Pretty hacker infested nowadays though.
