I suggest you take a look at Gotham City Impostors. Smaller maps, fast paced gameplay, fun gadgets and there are team based objective modes, but it will help if you get a like minded group together rather than random people. The downside is you will find uberleet people in this game (like in any other fps).

Monolyth gives nice support for this game, free maps and other stuff and it`s cheap compared to full priced shooters.

I'll always suggest Tribes Ascend, as it's free. So you don't really lose much if you find out you don't like it.

There's also a referral system which rewards both players... Refer a Friend [https://account.hirezstudios.com/tribesascend/?referral=2081798&utm_campaign=email] /shameless
I'm going to third this game, although be warned that it takes forever to get the Exp to unlock new weapons. I mean, its 18000 for a new class, but 42000 for a spinfusor? WTF?
The way I see it, it's to break new people into their mindset of bullet weapons > explosive ones before bitter tribes vets get to them first and trick them into using spinfusors.

Or I could be exaggerating, since the pathfinder starts with a spinfusor anyway.
Really? Most of my kills are with the Pathfinder's spinfusor, seeing as it is capable of hitting 700 on a direct hit and 500 on a near miss. The assualt rifle by comparison does only 75 per hit and you're normally too far away to get more than about 1 in 5 accuracy. Though that may be because I'm really bad at the game.
Also, the Juggernaut (the other class unlocked by default) has a heavy spinfusor.
It was mostly a joke, although if you check the overall DPS for bullet weapons vs. explosive ones you'll find they generally do nearly double DPS compared to similar explosive weapons. There's obvious reasons why it might be higher, in fact i'd be bothered if it wasn't at least 150%, but near 200% seemed a little silly to me.

Doesn't matter to me either way because I quit playing it a while ago though. Had no interest in the organized stuff, and it had gotten a little boring stomping rank 5-10 players all day.
