HA! No one said Minecraft yet! Minecraft is my suggestion. It's not perfectly stable, but it's very fun to explore...

until you get lost.

Freelancer, although if you're into the view of free-roaming must contain the old hack-and-slash routine, it's probably not for you... but considering it's low price it may be worth a look, anyway, as it can be obtained new for roughly £5 off internet retailers.

Edit: It was designed for pentium II processors, so I don't think you'll have any issues with it, for some reason.
As far as I know it's pretty much a game in it's own league, as I have yet to encounter anything similar.

Seriously, this guy nailed it in the first post.

I guess I'd throw in GTA 4, Burnout Paradise, and Mass Effect 1 & 2.
He has a low end machine so maybe GTA Vice City or San Andreas, Mass Effect 1 & 2 should be fine for you if you lower the graphics settings. The Gothic games are pretty good fun as well, you don't need to have played the others to understand the story but it may seem confusing when you first start playing :p

really? I think the OP means good games.
Read my quote on his post.
yea yea. It isnt just boring it is disgusting for the sake of being disgusting.
When first found about the exploding heads and stuff I thought that it was awesome. Now, for the weirdest reason, I get this big lump in my throat whenever I think about its grossness.

The only clue to OP's gaming platforms is "outdated PC games". If he told us what platforms he had, us users could narrow down our suggestions.

The fact is that post gave out examples for games on different platforms, which is fine. Don't start complaining about the lack of people reading the thread, complain about the lack of information given in the thread

In regards to Fallout not running on his PC, I guess you never played Fallout 1 & 2?

If I can run them on my outdated laptop, I'm confident he can too.
PC specs above.

[AMD Athlon 64 x2 +6000 @2.98GHz
4gb RAM
99GB Master HDD, 136GB HDD (I know, I know. I bought the computer for $500 because I had a good processor.)
nVidia GeForce 9600 GT (plus PhysX for Mirrors Edge and Batman :D)
Gonna upgrade my RAM to 8 or 12 GB and Insert another HDD to 512GB.
You REALLY don't need so much RAM with a CPU and GPU like that. 4GB Is just fine.

That said, you can always check older RPG's like Arcanum and the first 2 Fallouts, but your computer is beefy enough to run the likes of Oblivion and Fallout 3 comfortably.
Well, you know what they say: The more the merrier. And plus how video games are evolving, I might need to upgrade my video card and/or processor in about a year or so.

Zelda... not on PC.

Fallout and Oblivion may not run on his computer and Red Dead Redemption is a Console Game only.

I swear, people don't read posts any more.
May I remind you that he didn't say PC only. He said that he has old games on his PC. So he doesn't mind old games.

Minecraft.

www.minecraft.net

10.00 euros (13.00 USD) Well worth the money and ridiculously addicting. Runs on just about any machine as well. I assume someone else here can back me up on how awesome this indie title is. Also it's in alpha right now, but the game is still baller as fuck. The dev updates it constantly and talks about it on his blog. Once the game goes into beta he's doubling the price, so I'd jump on it now.

But it's a waste of money. If I were you I'd save that money and just buy an entirely new computer in a year or so. Your motherboard would start slowing you down too, and limiting your choice of CPU's.

I'm going to do the same thing, my computer is quite similar to yours. I've tinkered and added stuff to it for about 2 years now, and it's pretty much at it's peak upgrade-wise. Hell, it's already bottlenecking as my new GPU is a DX11 one and I'm still running Windows XP.

Despite what people say do not get Saints Row 2 for PC! They probably played it on a console. It is a lot like GTAIV, a really bad port, avoid it. ARMA II can eat hexacores for breakfast, and will laugh cruelly at your video card.

I'd say STALKER (can't be bothered with the full-stops anymore).

I'd advise against buying more than 4gb of ram at the moment. Most games are still 32 bit and can only use 3gb, of which your GPU takes 512Mb leaving 2.5 Gb as the most a game will need. I'll just assume you are running a 64bit OS because you are even thinking about more than 4Gb. HDD's are cheap now, buy a WB Black 1 Tb or larger, they are as good as you'll get without paying velociraptor or SSD money.

I have a friend that knows a friend. My friends friend torrented Windows 7 for me and it works amazing good, well, for a torrent that is.

Same, but I don't really trust a torrented OS. Call me paranoid. I'll wait with Windows 7 until I get myself a new computer.

Hmmm meh. It works good enough. I actually think it was a crack instead of a torrent, if theres a difference.
