I was a fan of AT for a long time, my favorite episodes are ones with ice king and episodes of the lich. i find myself not watching it because the past few episodes leave more questions then answers and I THINK that they keep changing cannon...like the one episode of bublegum not believing in magic was weird to me....and there seems to be more "filler" episode then ones with a plot...if you can give me a good reason to just power thought it and keep watching it let me know...

What else would you watch anyway?

The episodes are still good. I agree that some of episodes recently are pretty boring and play out like "fillers", but they've gotten a little better.

Now that they've sort of written out Flame Princess (which is sad because I fucking LOVE Flame Princess), the episodes feel like they have a lot less continuity. But a lot of cartoons don't have continuity.

Recent episodes with Continuity: "Play Date" (an Ice King episode) followed by "Pit".
Good recent episodes to watch: "The Vault", "James", "Love Games", "Dungeon Train".

I really hope we see more of Shoko from "The Vault", she was pretty cool and interesting.

All I can really say is just keep up with it. I would say, oddly enough, that Adventure Time handles continuity extremely well for a show that likes to be really random. It actually references past events and jokes correctly without changing the canon. Though I agree that there have been some boring episodes in the new season, but it's natural to have a few duds in a season. I didn't like the stretch of Jake-less episodes they had a while back, but they weren't bad episodes. Sometimes it can be easy to be disenfranchised with a show if there are a few back to back episodes that don't click with you.

The whole Princess Bubblegum being very adamant about not believing in magic/supernatural things seemed odd and kinda dumb, but that wasn't much of a continuity issue.

Hmmm... Well, there's a pending invasion coming... What invasion, you ask? Watch the episode "James"... It's right after the "Play Date/The Pit" two-parter...

Though, I can see what you mean... With Rebecca gone, Flame Princess kinda gone, and there's not really something like The Lich to create some real conflict on the show at hand, things seem to be slowing down, based on your overall interest in the show...

But, I'm predicting this right now... A pending invasion is coming... and, what was have thought was long gone, has finally resurfaced onto the world of OOO...

It's like MMO Burnout, you've got to take a break for about half a year, up to two years even. & when you're finally in the mood for it again, you can catch up with a marathon.

American cartoons tend to avoid having continuity, with episodes standing on their own, so they can avoid the constraints of Canon & not have to make entire episodes to cover gaping plotholes that the fans pointed out.

Well, Christmas is coming up. And past Christmas episodes have historically been very 'feels-y' type episodes that tell a bit more of the overarching story of the world and characters.

If you were a big fan you're probably going to go check them out eventually to see if they've gotten any better, so encouragement might be irrelevant.

I never watch AT for continuity of story. I live in 'Murica and watch cartoons and never expect any continuity, and the little bit that I found in AT is just an unexpected bonus.

Watch it for the characters. The dialogue is always snappy, Jake is always doing something funny, and Ice king and gunther are always just hilarious no matter what they're doing. I'm almost in love with Bubblegum and Marceline for some reason. Best of all the AT world has a wondrous timeless endless-possibilities feel to it like... minecraft I guess would be a comparison.

If you're going to skip any episodes, maybe some Kat and Fiona ones. They're really feelsy and just have a far different girly tone from the rest of the episodes and make me feel like I'm watching My Little Pony and I freakin hate MLP.

I've given up on Adventure Time, I love it but the way Cartoon Network Australia shows it is dreadful. Half an episode per week, out of order and big chunks of episodes edited because kids are "too innocent to see a bum or hear the word sexy" I'm just waiting for all the dvds to come out so I can watch it without CN Australia assuming I cant handle the word "sucks."

One question. Do you want it back because it is a fun show or do you want it back to prove you weren't wasting your time?

eh, if the spark is gone, not much anyone can say to get it back. XD I find the randomness of the series endearing, but honestly I don't feel much drive to watch the show anymore, either. the only plot thread/episodes that will still drive me to go out of my way to watch it are the Simon and Marcy themed ones, though with Rebecca Sugar gone those may change, too. XD

I was a bit fed up of Adventure time a couple of months back after I watched it fairly regularly so I took a little bit of a break from it and started re-watching the early Aqua teen hunger force seasons, along with Harvey Birdman: Attorney at law and Lucy the daughter of the devil before I started watching a couple of episodes here and there, and I rediscovered my love of the series, so I would suggest maybe taking a bit of a break. You can have too much of a good thing sometimes in my opinion.

Don't force yourself to stick with something if you aren't getting the same enjoyment out of it. People who do that tend to end up hating the thing they used to like, looking for ways to convince themselves that it's always the shows fault, and just getting more frustrated trying to reignite that spark of their original passion.

My advice is take some time off, miss a season, and if you are participating in the fandom, take a break. Burnout happens, trying to force yourself to be passionate about something will likely just backfire and make you resent the show. Find something else to watch, read, play, or whatever, if you come back to it again later you might find that spark returning, or you may just find a comfortable nostalgia, maybe the show will never completely recapture your interest, but a little distance will help you look back on that entertainment as a good experience.

I've got a similar experience, I watched the episodes early on right when they came out on CW, now I just catch them whenever I've got time, I buy the seasons I like and don't stress out about it too much now. That initial fervor and spark almost never lasts forever with anything, sometimes the thing you liked changed, or maybe you changed, or life just got in the way, and the shows humor or world just isn't as appealing or relevant to you as when you first encountered it.

The out of order and censored parts are bad (and for Regular Show, at least, those edits have made it back to CN US for the repeats, annoyingly enough), but the "half an episode a week" thing is how it is in the US, because it's a 15 minute show, not a half hour one. Unless you're getting some sort of 7.5 minute mini-sodes or something weird like that. A significant chunk of American animation comes out in 15 minute increments. The majority of American TV animation has pretty much always been collections of two or three shorts per half hour block with only an occasional (usually action) show actually taking up the full block for one episode, and in recent years they've started just showing those 15 minute shorts as their own show, which in a way is a good thing, since it opens up cool scheduling options (e.g., two different shows in one half hour block), and also lets the production company stretch out the same amount of new releases over twice the amount of time. I don't have a source for it, but my guess as to where it started was Adult Swim's original comedy shows, with Cartoon Network proper picking up the idea for its shows down the road. I know AS's original programming has been 15 minute episodes for freakin' ever.

IMO this just kind of happens. AT's will be going onto its 6th season next year and the formula is still just the same. After enough time, things just get boring.

Looks like we need another "Mushroom War"... or a "simple" invasion... or a "movie"...

Also, I just realized how many episodes have been in this past season... Has it really been over 40 episodes this season (so far)?

That's basically what I did while waiting for Season 4 of FiM to come out... (especially post-EG movie...)
