Welcome to the forums. As one of the veteran members I hope you enjoy your stay.

Here are some top tips:

1.Ignore the "reply" button in the forums. New users get caught out by it, but all it does is move you to the box at the bottom. If you want to reply to somebody's post use the "Quote" button. They'll get a little message saying you quoted them and people understand what you're talking about.

2. Check out the <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups>User Groups. I can say that every Zero Punctuation ever made has not equalled the fun I've had with user groups. They're the reason I join in on the escapist rather than just read the news and watch the videos. I've been on holidays with people from the User groups.

3. Check out the old videos from series that have finished. Particularly <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/doomsday-arcade>Doomsday Arcade. You can find a list of series <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/galleries>here. Watch at least one episode of each to see if you like anything. Unforgotten Realms is also great.

4. Learn some of the forum code. If you've used forums before, or have a working knowledge of HTML then you should be fine. Check out <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/markup_help.php>this page for helpful hints on embedding videos and links into forum posts.

5. If you need Avatars then go to the <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Avatar-Store-New-and-Second-Hand>Avatar Store. Traditionally people change their avatars for holidays like Halloween. Christmas, and March Mayhem. The Store is full of great artists who can make almost any avatar you want.

Oh hello.

Please do not start any 'the thing to your left is...' threads. There have been way too many of these as of late.

Welcome, but you shouldn't ever admit to being a girl on the internet.
I'm too busy loving your avatar to listen to your advice. I love Fight Club far too much.
What are the seven rules?
1. Do not talk about Fight Club
2. Do NOT talk about Fight Club
3. If someone says stop, taps out or goes limp, the fight is over.
4. Only two guys to a fight
5. One fight at a time
6. No shirts, no shoes.
7. Fights go on as long as they have to
8. If this is your first night at Fight Club... You have to fight.

Welcome to the Escapist! Stay out of the Basement, that's where Slender Man and the souls of the banned resides. Also, don't go in the Scary Thread. Slender Man has made many an appearance there too.
Slender Man?

...Do I want to know?
No, you don't. It scary! :(
Unlike the basement. Don't listen to anyone else. The basement is great!

Almost, but rule three and rule seven should be under the same rule. However, I am merely nit-picking. Now, if you had a tumor, what would you name it?

Cannot quote word perfect? Must watch again!
And, uh... Bertha. Because I loathe the name Bertha.

The answer I was looking for is Marla. You should also read the book if you haven't already.

I have :) Twice.
I was just thinking my own personal tumour, if I were to have one.
Question time for you, which did you prefer out of book and movie? And which did you see/read first?

Greetings Dragoniferous.

I'm liking this dragon-themed username more so then most of the others I've seen/can remember seeing.

Um... hello.

I don't really know what I can say. So do you (or anyone reading this for that matter) like saltine crackers?
very much so. Do you have any? Can I has?
Thanks... It came from trying to think up a new username to use because I disliked the one I had been using, and attaching suffixes to 'dragon'. Dragonacious, Dragonerific, Dragonible, Dragonation, Dragonism, etc...
Let's all have a dragontastic time.

Alright. I saw the film first, but I think I like them pretty equally. One of the very few times I haven't disliked a movie made from a book.

Or any of Palahniuk's books. I'm currently reading Rant, but my favourite thus far has been Choke, and Survivor.

Ironically, after discovering that Fight Club was based off Palahniuk's novel, I never actually got around to reading the book. Still haven't...

Also a quick first-timer tip: don't go into the Religion & Politics subforum. It's bad in there. :(
I have never seen anything as bad as that forum since the great flame war of '94. It's a bit scary really. Especially when you're the token conservative...

OT: Welcome to the Escapist. Should you desire cookies please join the dark side, for we have them. Also, when appropriate award your fellow community members with a cookie for getting and pointing out an obscure reference and/or meme. As you've been told, stay out of the basement, and please enjoy your eternal damnation luxury threads/forums.

And on the subject of saltine crackers: It's been awhile since I had them, however I love them with some chicken noodle, or tomato soup. mmmmm... soup...

Dear god no! My friend read about it, and couldn't sleep for like 3 days. Just from what little I heard about it was enough to royally creep me out. Scary thing is, he only comes around when you think about him *scary music*!!!

My favourite childhood movie. My mom ended up giving away our entire Disney VHS collection, including The Lion King. Sad times... sad times.

Melbourne, Victoria. Land of the crazy weather (we're known for 'four seasons in one day'), crazy hot summers and, um... Australians?

Edit: Like the avatar. Gir is awesome.
