I would love to play through RE 2 and 3, but they're my uncle's, and he lives in Texas. Survival Horror is by far my favorite genre of game.Angelcraft said:Sega games kicked ass (at least most of the Genisis ones) and you will likely find some reasons why your old games were your favorite. Yeah. I don't know if ashamed is how I'd put it, but when I started feeling like this, I just started thinking, "I've put so much time and money into various games. I don't want to be done with them." Its just a phase, and if I am done with them, I'll move on to, like you said, more productive things. Games are hardly my life.blindmind said:I do believe I've felt like this before. I felt somewhat ashamed upon realizing it. I've taken to doing more productive things now, on top of gaming.
I'm gonna revert back to some old Sega games, because blasts from the past are always refreshing. Good 'ole Sonic.Valgee said:I got bored with TF2 for a little bit. But I got better.
It happens a lot when every other game is FPS. Try out an entirely different genre? Puzzles and platforming and the like can be immensely gratifying.
If you can stand it, I'd recommend doing something more involving, like a Guitar Hero or Rock Band setlist of songs you really like, something like that. Maybe even wave your hands around like an idiot with a Wii. When my friend comes over we always turn on the Wii and use the Backwards Compatibility to play rounds of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect. At the time, I just needed a thoughtless shooter to keep me occupied, and I got it for free, so I figured what the hell? But I did kind of burn out on it. And I can't play for achievements. I've tried, but it just doesn't get me going.Bonkekook said:It's MW 2. It kills people's brains. Seriously.
Kidding.
My 360 almost always comes on when I get home. However, playing primarily for achievements keeps me out of that rut because I never play the same game routinely, unless it's REALLY good.
I did the same with Borderlands as you did with Fallout 3. Just played and played until you can't get any more from it. I should hit up my library though. Good call there.DoctorNick said:I tend to keep up with a particular activity until it bores me and then I move on to something else, alternating through several different choices until whatever was boring me before seems entertaining again.
Right now I've been playing the living shit out of Fallout 3 for the last week or so in a mad push to get every achievement for it, quite frankly I'm starting to get sick of it and the 360 in general. Once I thoroughly defeat Fallout 3 I'll probably put the controller down and likely not touch my 360 for at least three or four weeks. In the mean time, there are some book [http://www.amazon.com/Composite-Construction-Homebuilt-Aircraft-How/dp/0938716263/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271741986&sr=8-1]s that I need to finish reading before they're due at the library on the first, so the next several weeks are going to be a giant book reading orgy I'll likely devote many hours of each day to.
After that goes on for about a month it'll stop being so entertaining for me, the books will get put down and I'll move on to something else. Possibly catching up on TV shows I like (If the next season of Breaking Bad is out, I haven't checked yet) and re-watching old favorites (Week long Babylon 5 fest! Yeah!).
Eventually, TV will begin to bore the shit out of me also. Now I haven't checked a lot of my favorite blogs or webcomics for a long time. So then I'll spend a couple days looking at all of those for anything I've missed. After a number of days spending ten-plus hours on the computer each day I'll be quite ready to do something else.
About at this point I haven't so much as looked in my 360's general direction for weeks. Hey I had almost all of the achievements for Mass Effect 2 and one more play-through should do it, besides which I was kind of thinking about that game lately...
...
As such, the circle of life continues.
I have skydived before.Anarchemitis said:Sell all the games I don't play anymore, use a bit of savings, pay $250 to go skydiving.
Totally worth every cent. Better still, the first jump constitutes intial training. Thirty more and you're certified, and it gets cheaper with each jump until about the 20th when it becomes free! Packing the chutes is different though.
I do enjoy Rock Band, pretty good vocalist, but I've been spoiled by that. Me and a buddy always play together when we can (we go to different universities), and he's my only other friend who can play expert reliably. And if I'm not playing with other expert players, I don't really enjoy it all that much. And I refuse to play online, as most of my favorite songs are DLC and very few people have them.Bonkekook said:If you can stand it, I'd recommend doing something more involving, like a Guitar Hero or Rock Band setlist of songs you really like, something like that. Well, if you have the PS network, I hear you can rebuy old PS1 games. I don't have the PS3, so I don't know. But if you have a Gamecube or a Wii, then a RE2&3 are running about $30.00 at Gamestop used. I just play the games on my PS2. You know, the one with reverse capability! But I am gonna do some runthroughs of Sonic 3. Should keep me more than entertained for awhile. Hard to imagine how something so simplistic like running really fast in a ball is more entertaining than dropping nukes on 12 year old brats.

Wasn't a Resident Evil on Genisis? I forget, but it seems that there was. You may be able to Ebay a copy.
I got that recently. Quite a good game, though I preferred Phantasia.Just_A_Glitch said:I'd do that with Tales of Symphonia (favorite game, and coincidentally, one of the few JRPGs I can tolerate) but a friend from school borrowed it and transferred, so he's still got it. You'd think I would be able to find another copy (I work at a game store), but I can't for some odd reason, and I just know that would cure me of my gaming boredom.bluebrino said:Well this is my experience and it might help. I started playing Knights of the Old Republic again and just can't stop. It's just way too fun. You must realize that I don't get new games often and I was entirely bored with my catalog, so I picked it up and played it. I am now having much more fun with a game than I have in a long time.
