The word "hipster" has seen quite a bit of misuse, but the modern version that I think makes the most sense is: "Young people who are being contrary solely for the sake of being contrary, and are quite smug about it."
I'm socially ignorant: Please tell me what a "Hipster" is.

Thanks for the edit. I try to keep things like this as academic as I can, but I have my biases. I've actually been thinking about it and if you want to distill it even further: They ARE the internet manifested. As stated, they are a sub-culture pastiche, but they don't hold on to anything very long. They're basically a human compilation of memes that constantly changes over time. If anything, people hate them because they are seen to represent all the negative aspects of the internet in real life.Bara_no_Hime said:
