My roommate is playing the new Star Trek online game and so he talks to me about it quite a bit.

he showed me the character creator, and there is a slider where you can adjust the boob size of female characters. But the smallest you can get is like a C cup. I was a little disappointed with that, being a fan of flat chested women and all, but i really didn't think that much about it.

tonight he told me that someone on the game's forum had asked them why they couldn't make flat chested female characters. The official reply was that, if they let people do that, it would be possible for people to make little girl characters and that might get them into issues that they didn't want to get into, so...all female characters in the game get boobs.

Now, i can see where they are coming from on this. I'm not sure i agree with them, but i see their point. What do you guys think?

no, but their is a "slave girl" costume. Not being a fan or Star Trek, i'm really not sure what that means, but yeah.

So there are no short, flat-chested women anywhere in the Star Trek universe? Pretty ridiculous. (Also sounds like a creative excuse for exploitative female character modeling.)
Genetic engineering maybe? Who knows with sci fi...

Yeah. That's a VERY silly reason for such a thing, OP.

Exploitative female character modeling in a sci fi game....Now I've seen everything.

It does scare me a little that this could be construed as "kiddie porn," though.

I can see why, but I'm not sure that's really going to be the best way to do it. Give them a minimum age 'look'. Unless it's a Japanese MMO you're not going to have too many chibis running around anyway. Anyhoo, they should put more effort into staving off predators, though that said, limiting boobs to minimum C-cups is a very quick and efficient way of doing it.

Wtf ... this is like the opposite to Sims 3.
Where there were dozens of threads of people complaining that every woman looks like a little girl.

So, what, if you're a flat chested woman you're a child now?
Well, at least they don't have to worry about the whole "don't ask a woman her age" thing, then.

But it isn't child porn. Child porn is a crime against the child. So if no actual child is being abused, there's no crime. There was a pretty big thread that came to that conclusion a while back.
i agree with you 100% on this.
i can still understand the company wanting to cover their ass though. I just wish they wouldn't
