I used to skip school all the time, but I've skipped jobs much less. If I do skive off, I don't feel guilty about it. I think a lot of the time that skipping work/school comes from fear/inability to give the genuine reason we need a break, ie. stress, feeling down, etc. Sometimes, that one little day at home in your pajamas is enough to keep you going through a stressful period at work, but you'd never be able to say that to your boss and get away with it.
The only real job I skipped was when I worked for a patent agent as a babysitter, because the whole place was so fucking miserable that I literally felt I needed a few days off every month to recover from the horror of being there.
I wouldn't skip my current job though, as I'm unfortunately one of those dreadful people that enjoys what they do.
