I only did it once back in University. I misread my tutor email that he said he wanted to see our progress but I didn't do much since last time he saw it. A day later he message me why I didn't come it and I said my work is not different from last time but it turn out that his email is refer to the ones who don't turn out that often. Opps.
Did I regret it, probably not? Otherwise if I did come in then I would of have tons more work on my shoulder.

Mostly because I got sick for real when I started working (200+ people in an 'open office', air conditioning etc) and my boss said that I'll have to watch it if I want to keep my job. So since then I've been going to work even when I was ill. Right now I'm on a week-off cause the doc said that me working and taking antibiotics caused my current condition.

So yeah, it's either health or work for me, can't have both. So acting ill's out of the question.

Well generally speaking you know before you do something whether or not you'll regret doing it. When debating "Should I phone in sick today?" your conscience will either shout up or keep quiet - the logic is perfectly sound.

So you mean you weigh up the potential to feel guilty if you phone in sick, and then act based on that. Yeah, that makes sense.

Exactly. Sometimes it seems like a good idea, and other times it feels like a bit of a dick move. I pull my sick days accordingly.

I work with children. You always anticipate that during Winter, they will come to school, snotty nosed, wheezing and coughing. You tend to need all your accumulated sick days around that time. (And a flu injection)

Twice. The first time was more like extending the time I had actually been sick to catch up with school work. Didn't really feel guilty about it. The second time I just didn't feel like getting up. I did feel a bit guilty that time as my work group had a presentation that day.

Then again, I'm actually sick about once every 10 years, so some twisted logic inside me told me I deserved the day off.

Oddly enough, I was thinking of acting sick this Monday, and skipping school. So I did. The next day, I was taken to the doctor, who told my parents I had the flu, so I got to stay home till Wednesday.

Actually, I haven't, but then again I like my job... Have done it when I still went to school (when I was 15 or so) a bunch of times, didn't feel much guilt since I was good at timing it to days that weren't worth attending anyway.

But yeah, I "this" it. I never did it in school because fuck, I go here to learn stuff and not because I have to. And now I don't do it either because I too like my job and the company seems to be always short on people anyway.

I never pretend to be sick just to get time off something. When I was at secondary school, I only ever had a single day off. And that was for my uncle's funeral. Since I've been working, I've had three days off, for a really bad cold. And normally I'd still go to work anyway, the only reason I took the time off was because I work in a supermarket, and mixing a cold with a job involving food is a sure-fire way to get in a lot of trouble with my bosses. Contamination and all that...
