Oh the big sickie.
Yeah, done it so much that I've lost count.

Do I feel guilty about? Maybe once. Back when I was in highschool. Faked it so well that the whole class was freaking out.

I did in my previous job, but I haven't in my current. I enjoy it, it's not physically strenuous at all, and I'm working with great people.

But in my old job, it went EXACTLY like this.

yes, if you're owt like me you feel really guilty and like you're gunan get found out. Then you ring... the phone rings and rings, sweat dripping from your brow, your clammy hands struggle to hold the reciever. "Hello?" comes the voice from the other side. PANIC! They'll know! You'll be found out! "I-I'm ill," you stutter terrified of the consequences "I can't come in today." Seconds pass which feel like a millenia then the response...

"Sure, whatever, see you when you're better."

Then pure elation and euphoria at what a unstoppable leviathon of deception you realise you are.

Least thats how i feel wen i call in sick.

Did it multiple times last period and lied to my parents about going to school.

In the end it didnt matter at all I still passed my period with all good grades. Though they did whine about my abscense in most of the lessons.

I am not the only on in my class doing this. Around 30-40% of my class was in the same situation as me.

Never! When I'm at work I come in to teach even when I cannot speak!!

Actually that's not even an exaggeration. I taught a 12 hour shift at my language school when I lost my voice. Great Teacher Beniki can teach 4 year olds English with nothing but stern looks, smiles and a board marker.

But.. er... when I was school I used to skip a lot. Guess I'm making up the balance now.

In high school I never took sick days, the only time I took off was for my grandmothers funeral and a few days during the exams when I had appendicitis. (not fun, I had to redo that year which happened to be my second last)
Now that I'm in college I've only taken 2 days off that weren't justifiable with illness, but that was because I could barely get out of bed, I was so tired and couldn't for the life of me muster the motivation to face 7 hours of sitting in front of a computer doing IT.

I've been at my current job for almost two years and have never called in sick or taken vacation. Just saving up for a long day off ;)

Many many times, though that was in elementary / high school and it did not matter that I didn't go.

I have also skipped classes in university but I regret every single time.

As for work? No, I have thus far been paid by the hour, so there is not advantage to me skipping.

have you ever pretended to be sick to get a day off? Did you feel guilty about it?
You're a good person if you feel guilty. I have, but it depends on the place/who I'm inconveniencing. If my boss is nice then I may feel a little bad, if they're an unreasonable career-oriented jerk who treats their workers badly, screw them. Ultimately we're forced to lie because the world of business is too damn serious or the people we're dealing with too inflexible.

During school, yeah. But then, I'm *paying* to be there, it's my money to throw away if I so choose.

But never for work. It's called a 'work ethic'; I'm being paid to show up and do my job. If I need time off, I schedule it. Calling in "sick" when you're not sick is childish.

I've gone to work sick more often than I do 'pretend' to be sick. (More likely mildly and lacking motivation/interest to slave minimum wage/8 hours).

I don't recall taking a day off if I wasn't actually ill. I hate missing a day which I have to be in as it is a real hassle to get the notes and catch up on the work. If I miss the day and I have labs then I would feel absolutely terrible as my partner would have to pick up the slack.

I stood up and said "FUCK YE, I ain't going to no classroom!"
And they never tried to get me to class ever again.

Never did. In fact, I've gone exactly the opposite way - going into work when I was cripplingly ill.
This until recently. Still even knowing I was sick I still felt guilty for not going. But when I returned after 2 days off sick my boss laughed at my face (I was still coughing my lungs out and with a bit of temperature) and said I knew if I thought I was fit to survive another day of work in those conditions. Then I felt actually a dumbass and thought why didnt I put more a few days off sick.

I'm the same way. Missing work is something that's mind boggling to me. I've been to work the day after I broke an elbow, the morning after I spent all night in a hospital, and when I got the flu (the bad kind aka the little piggy one). I probably should have been at home when I had the h1n1 for everyone else's sake, but everyone came out unscathed. I help set the bar at my work and it's pretty frowned upon to call out.

Yup! School days and Work. I was either hungover or just really had a bad case of CBA.

Never felt guilty, I used to work stupidly long hours 6 days a week, I deserved more time off.
