Druid, or paladin. Good way to find what you want to do. And feral druid is just a breeze to level up.

Gnome warrior. Just as effective at tanking as any other race (ok, maybe slightly less so, but not any noticable amount), but you're a tiny gnome wielding a massive weapon/weapon and shield/weapons

I have retyped this post like 10 times, each time trying my best to not offend anyone who play WoW, But i cant so im just going to say it.

WoW, is bad for people. And i dont mean the obvious "he sits in front of it for hours a day and never does anything else" That some people get because they really dont do anything else.
I believe Extra credits has summed it up the best when they did there MMO episode, because everyone tries to compete with WoW, very few "New" games are ever made. Its mostly just a copy and paste of WoW's mechanics with Different art. If people stopped saying to themselves "i think ill start playing WoW" and started saying, "I think ill find an indie game to try out" or "I think ill look into a game with cool gameplay mechanics" The world would be a much better place. Before you start your WoW account, i urge you to try something else first, and if there is NOTHING else thats better, and i mean NOTHING! Then play WoW, its essentially the bottom of the barrel anyway.
You offend people because you are out and out Wrong.
so wrong it is insulting.

WoW is a Solid Game with fluid gameplay mechanics that give players the freedom to play the game they want at their pace in their way. It is by far one of the Best RPG games out there. You can take any charicter, class, and spec and Solo Play the game from 1 to 80 With utter ease... Like using a Subility Orc Rogue in PVE (the absolute worst spec and race for a PVE rogue). After all there is a very good reason why it is selling so good.

Trying to justify the game as being bad soley because of its influence on the market is just plain ignorant and stupid.

the reason you see so many WoW Clones out there is BECAUSE it is such a good game.

The Undead zones 1-25ish are flipping epic; by far the best leveling experience I've ever had in an MMO.

So, yeah, pick an undead something (other than Death Knight).

It takes only a few minutes to get to about level 4 or 5, so play a number of different race class combination until you find what you like. I played as a human warlock and it worked well for me.

I couldn't level a Druid to save my life, ha. Got bored too quickly.

OT: I say Belf Warlock or Mage but I liked casters. If you go warrior go Orc, rogue go Troll. Hunter is Orc... Paladin= Tauren. Actually Tauren are good Warriors too. Just don't get a Caster Tauren. They weren't made for that :|

I've played WoW for five years, and I've got to say... Go Druid. Trolls, taurens, worgen and night elves can be this class.
They're not bad for a noobie, tbh. It's as hybrid as you can go, and lets you roll whatever you feel like rolling without making a new character.
Basically, it's tank/dps/healing with and without magic involved.

Also, make sure you go Alliance on your first run. Horde has a tendency of being reliantly good, but not overseeing in terms of lacking skill. Doesn't matter if you speak English on this side; play bad, and you're out.

Alliance on the other hand, have this peculiar hostile-free environment most of the time, and so long as you speak English, you should be good.

I probably missed out different things here, but... I'll let it slide.

Paladin. The race depends on whether you're on an alliance-heavy or horde-heavy server.
With the paladin you can tank, heal or dps, and you don't have to worry about buying mounts because you get them for free. Therefore, it's the perfect class to start with because you have a lot of freedom with what you want to do. Then again, leveling's pretty easy, so you could play around with race/class combinations for a bit until you find one you like.

You didn't ask in your OP, but I'd suggest starting with at least one gathering profession (herbalism's best on most realms I think), because it's a great way to make gold. Never, never start with enchanting because it does take a lot of effort and gold with no/little payback until the higher levels.

agreed pally is best now that they fixed ret and you can actualy do all three roles. For pallys though stat wise humanor dwarf are best followed closely by tarren and then blood elf (minior differences so wether you play horde or ally youll have fun ether way:) that being said probily the easiest class to play is a hunter as they lvl quickly and have pets. hope this helps:)

Your just going to have to keep looking till you find the class/faction/race you like. You can't really enjoy the game till you do. I kept playing off and on because a friend had it, and never made it past lvl 40 till I made my undead rogue who's now 84. So yeah. Anyways have fun.

Your confusing "good" with "Popular", CoD has the same problem. Its the exact same FPS as 90% of other FPS out there, it just has good marketing.

It's definitely not a bad game, but it's really only good if you have a group to play it with, preferably people you know in person.

Also this isn't the kind of game you can just pick up, finish and then not play for a while. You'll most likely either love it or hate it, and the huge patch downloads and the cost of both the game/expansions/subscription means that its going to be a pretty major purchase.
For a game anyway.

Don't get WoW. Wait for Guild Wars 2 and don't pay monthly. But otherwise, like all mmos. You want to save money, go a physical class because you only need hp pots. If you want to lose money go mage.

Its a pretty good game, doesn't really matter if you enter with friends or you just plan to meet some online. I would scout out a few of the different classes first before deciding (try getting each to level 20, doing pvp from 10-15 and dungeon from 15 to 20) I personally chose a Paladin healer/tank because I don't like waiting in the dungeon finder for hours on end which is what DPS get to do. I also kind of liked the feel of being one of the most important members in a group/guild/arena/anything. However, I have been disappointed by this class for a bit due to the fact that their only ability thats really made for fun is move 20% faster and I always find myself jealous of mages teleporting about and going invisible. This can be backed up by engineering though so remember to take professions into mind because they can do some very neat stuff.
If you don't want to go through that process though choose druid. They can be ANYTHING, range/melee dps, healer, tank, hell they can even fill a stealth role. Plus they get a nice variety of fun little spells such as aquatic/flight form and a free teleport to moonglade.
P.S. It makes very little difference wether you go alliance or horde, choose which ever has the race that LOOKS the coolest to you, I personally prefer blood elves but worgen and night elves are pretty awesome second places.
