EVE is MMO version of Dark Souls- you will die A LOT, and the faster you accept that the better. But build up resources and try to trust people you absolutely know you can trust.

Other then that? Try and ally with powerful people until you're one of those powerful people.

You're better off staying in protected zones where the 'police' can protect you, and not go too far off into foreign territory because of pirates. When mining for minerals, remember to make a checkpoint to make it easier to warp back, instead of having to do the same linear journey from where the warp-drive stops to where the actual minerals are.

I haven't played in over 4 years, so I can't really say too much about the newer version of EVE. But you're best off not acting randomers and especially killing Escape Pods. You can easily gain a bounty on your head, if you're not careful.

I'd also advice trying to make a friend of higher-experience to help you out with some missions, perhaps. Or at least for you to tag along in their's and pick up what you can scavenge from wrecks.

Also, don't steal cargos!!! I made that mistake and I ended with a bounty so high, I needed to be in 90% security. And, if 'Eve's gate' still exists, don't bother... I spent a whole week flying towards it, and nothing happened.

That's my little rant over, hope this is useful for a game I've not played in so long! :D

Right where to start.

1) If something seems to good to be true it is.

2) Don't fly anything you can't afford to replace (yes even in high sec since you will get suicide ganked).

3) Trust no one.

4) Never pay to join a corporation.

5) Avoid goonswarm. It may seem like a good way for a beginner to get into the low sec high end game but it's really just a way to be used by the higher ups at goons and then discarded and most other alliances and corporations tend to ignore applications from ex-goons.

6) Make some friends.

7) Trust no none.

8) Try to join a friendly corporation.

9) Don't fly anything you can't afford to replace.

10) You will die so get used to it.

11) Keep your clone updated

12) Figure out what you want to do and just do it. You don't need a lot of skill points or the best ships to do anything. For mining just start small and work your way up, for pvp either just get in there and start blowing shit up or join a corp since fleets can always use a tackler (small, fast and expendable ship that locks down the target so the rest of the fleet can catch it). I've known pilots that made their first battleship kill less then two weeks after starting the game.

13) Trust no one.

14) DO. NOT. FLY ANYTHING. THAT. YOU. CAN NOT. AFFORD. TO. REPLACE.

My advice is not to play. Honestly Eve is a huge time sucker and most of what you are doing feels like work. But if you insist familiarize yourself with ships, fittings, skills, the economy, etc. quickly because there is a lot of information.

Make some friends but don't ask them questions you can look up or they're likely to take you somewhere and then splat you because they'll consider you not worth the time investment for anything but target practice.

Also really trust no one. A lot of MMO's have rules about ripping other players off. In Eve its part of the game and is completely legit to do it. There are few fair fights in Eve. Whenever you're going anywhere have an escape plan.
