When I see artworks like
I think "how awesome would a Pokemon survival horror game be!?" With the towns and Pokemon as grotesque nightmares of their former selves, I can think of more than a few locations that would scare the shit out of me.

So what franchise do you imagine could be awesome as a different genre? Maybe a game you feel could even do better as a different genre?

Those just make me think of Pokemon mixed with Dark Souls. Seriously fucked up stuff.

Skyrim became a cover shooter the other day for me. I was fighting a Dragon Priest and we were trading shots behind cover for 15 minutes. The same cover. It was quite boring.

KoTOR as a Jedi Knight style game would be awesome, switch between squad at will, wide open action environments and levels like in Jedi Knight, lightsaber duels, keep the hacking and special abilities. Kinda like Mass Effect meets Jedi Knight meets Neverwinter Nights really. It'd rule.

48 hours of gameplay I still havn't encountered one of them. WHERE CAN I FIND ONE OF THESE PRIESTS?!!

OT: Left 4 dead as an RPG, more use out of it that way and there would be a levelling system, perks etc, that would be great :D

I've always imagined how my favorite platformer (Sonic the Hedgehog) would hold up as an RPG.

And then they made Sonic Chronicles and it was awesome. I didn't really like the cliffhanger; it always leaves an impression that a sequel is right around the corner, but it never comes.

Go to Shearpoint, and kill the Dragon, if you approach the word of power there is a sarcophagus containing a Dragon Priest which pops open if you get close.

Also if you start the College of Winterhold, in one of the last missions there is a Dragon Priest to fight too.

I imagine that if Brutal Legend dropped the RTS gameplay and played as a straight hack and slasher it would have been a much better game.

I also imagine a Pokemon themed Civilization-style game where you manage a gym. That could be fun.

Okay, here's my list.

Modern Warfare as a fantasy RPG (That could actually be pretty fun)

Age of Empires as an FPS (First-person Spear-throwing)

Myst as a Lara Croft style game

Super Mario Bros as a hack and slash (Once again, I'd play that)

I'd honestly like to see an adventure game in the style of Zelda, Darksiders or Okami (or else a 'spectacle fighter' like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta) using the cast and setting (but preferably not usual storytelling method) of Touhou. Except that'd probably need a larger group than "one person" to make and it's already been confirmed that'll never happen.

I'd love to see skyrim as a tower defense.

Skyrim as an RTS (at least until I finish the design documents)
Mass Effect could make a cool RTS too.
I also suck at RTS's

I'd like to see Legend of Zelda as a true JRPG. Some have made the argument that it's very much like an RPG but imagine it as a level-grinding, dungeon crawling(er), random-encounter fest? Where you don't just meet interesting characters but they also help you out in their own respective areas and, dungeons? It doesn't even need turn-based combat as Kingdom Hearts has shown us.

You know what else would be fun? A console version (or maybe just handheld version) of The Sims that plays more like Warioware or, WTF. Sure, you build up your Sim and, their house but things like going to work, bathing, pooping and, cooking can take place in their own little mini-games. Maybe not so much Wario-Ware as a combination Cooking Mama, Crazy-Taxi and, DDR (for the pooping bit)

An Uncharted game where the focus is actually finding some goddam treasure instead of murdering everyone and their mother?

Super Mario Brothers as an RTS. Playing as Bowser and sending out his various troops to stop Mario.

I would love to see an XBLA Adventure Time game ala Castle Crashers or Scott Pilgrim. Or hell maybe a Mario style platformer. "Your princess is in another castle." Anyone?

The mass effect universe/series set in an x-com style tactical-isometric-team-turn-based game would be fantastic.

Fallout 3/NV with actual real time action RPG gameplay, (maybe with a bulltime mechanic for accurate aiming to replace VATS), instead of the half turn-based (or whatever the kind of thing that you would call VATS), half "you can zoom/aim down your sights but unless your gun skill is really high you might as well not bother aiming" bipolar gameplay that we got. Did I mention I hate VATS? If you want to be able to see yourself shoot something, just play in 3rd person, I don't need a fucking cinematic every time I shoot. (NV actually does this better by including the option to see slow-mo close-ups of your killing blows even if you're not using VATS, which is actually pretty sweet).

Or just have Fallout stay a turn-based RPG LOL YEAH RIGHT

IF MINECRAFT WAS A BOARD GAME. Bet you weren't expecting that. However, it would be devilishly adorable if the original Ratchet and Clank series(Ps2) was an RPG. Yeah, I know this thread is going to be full of "if ______ was an RPG" posts; but this combination is the only one I can see myself drooling over. That, and maybe a Grand Theft Auto simulation game, like The Sims, but with more grand thefts of autos.
