In all seriousness, I think that we can all recognize that every console has its share of fanboys, and in that way the PC is no exception.Of course, console (pc included) flame wars are often the most pathetically entertaining threads on other forums...
I first came to The Escapist around the time Yahtzee posted his second ZP video,(The Darkness, if memory serves) and for awhile that's the only reason I came here. Then after wandering over the forums and reading the articles on the home page I nearly passed out at the unexpected intelligence. It's not Nobel prize material but compared to: "OMG LOOOOLZZZ ROFLOL!!!1!", this is Shakespeare.
Also, if you ever come across a "LOL" in another forum where there's nothing to laugh at, point it out. Sometimes the next poster will join you in his stupidity.

there was a forum i visited quite often about three years ago, the bloodrayne.co.uk forums, everyone was polite, the discussions interesting and civil, and i never saw a troll.
it died a while back, I've never found out why.
i can to the escapist like a refugee, seeking shelter from other OMG HAXXORZ sites. (Like Game FAQs, i foolishly made an account there and was permanently banned as soon as i clicked the activation link. no explanation given.)
