If I could have eternal beauty too, then sure. As long as I can kill myself eventually.

What's point of immortality if those you care about are not there to share it with you. Honestly, my greatest fear is being truly alone.

I probably wouldn't pick immortality even if it were free... and considering the fact that I'm not exactly the most social person, and the few people who actually mean something to me mean a LOT to me...

Can't say immortality ever really appealed to me. At 25 I can already see why some older people view death as a welcome rest.

No to all accounts because:

A. Even if no one knew the cost, you would never forget it.
B. Immortality is a curse, not a blessing. Imagine the sun going nova, and you're left to drift in the void of space for eternity with no one but yourself to talk to. (this being the indestructible immortal version)
C. even living forever without being indestructible is maddening. You would no longer be human, and thus could never relate to another being.
D. Committing such a selfish act can in no way shape or form benefit the entire human race, despite your best intentions.

Put it this way, if someone I was very close to came to me and told me that they were going to kill me, but it was alright because they would become immortal, I probably wouldn't be too pleased about it. So I am going to pass.

This is how I think the spell would go down with me, were I to perform it.

1: Perform spell, sacrifice the lives and souls of 5 people, and be granted immortality.
2: Walk outside an ageless being.
3: Get hit by bus.

Hmmm.... I don't have 5 people I truly care for, and are old enough to justify the end of their lives cut short.
But I wouldn't feel bad for sacrificing say a 100 people I don't know or just hate for immortality and indestructibility.

Just generally, to the original question and any of the "bonuses:" no. I couldn't take someone's life, much less five, ten, or fifty people's lives.

...And, personally, I think having invulnerability as well as immortality would actually be a bad thing. It would take away any "escape" from eternal life I had. I'm sure that immortality would eventually weigh on me far too much, and I'd want to get out of it- having invulnerability would mean I could never die, even if I wanted to.

So I've been thinking about the concept of immortality, and I figure the energy required to keep a person alive forever would be immense, even if helped along by magic.

Bonus: Negative energy, but is weaker - 20 and 50 people who you hate, and hate you. I'd find this harder to achieve really - I can't think of five people who fit this criteria.
As for the 5 people I would miss... do my dog and cat count? because then I would have three... for the 20-50 people I hate and hate me. Yah totally, burn all of New York too if it makes you feel better, but I'm just a smidge of a sociopath so..

Personally, yes. I argue that the things you could do in the next few thousand years could make up for taking their lives, and that using old people for the spell would offset some of the negativity of taking their lives.
I see what your point is, but: If people found out that you are immortal, there will be people that try to kill you, either just for the reputation they would get for killing an immortal or because they don't agree with your ways. If you however manage to keep this immortality a secret, its also the question if you are in the position to do good. You won't change anything if you're a meaningless person, despite living forever.

My thoughts are this: I could not sacrifice 5 of the closest persons to me for my own good. Bearing the thought that those men and women would still live with me if it wasnt for that warlock and my greed to live forever is terrible. Also, if I die, its actually like if 6 people died, because my life has gained the worth of 6 instead of 1. So maybe I would end up like Spongebob, talking to a tissue and a chip, too frightened of being hurt or killed on the outside (no other comparison came to mind^^).

I was about to say yes to any of the above and I still think that's the rational choice, but but I doubt I would have the willpower to do it if they had to know that I was making that trade. Losing the people is one thing, knowing that the people themselves know what you're doing is another entirely.

I'd take the 10 person deal, but I'm such a misanthrope that I don't really think I can come up with 10 people who mean something to me.

This kinda reminds of the decision near the end of Infamous 1
When you choose to activate the ray sphere and kill a bunch of people for stronger powers. Except replace lotsa people with 5 or 10, and powers with immortality.

Are you insane?Immortality is a curse.Time seems to move faster as you get older, right? It's the same thing,no matter how long you live. And,assuming you don't get your ass killed, there is a 100% chance that you'll eventually be trapped under something until someone comes and finds you.Which might not happen until the sun explodes,if it's something particularly bad.

I know I praise this game at every opportunity, but this one fits better than most: the idea you are talking about is explored directly in Planescape: Torment (with the player character being the immortal).

Yes, I'm pretty sure I can round up ten people who deserve to die ie war criminals, mass murderers, lulzsec members, etc.
