Immortal's Club - Living History

Immortal's Club is a closed group of individuals who share one trait - they cannot die. The small group of Immortals hail from all of the world's nations and time periods, each with their own unique trick for tricking death. The game will unfold with the actions and decisions of the players, comprising of potentially unlimited amount of arcs, each situated around exciting periods and events in time. The characters have all met each other at some point or the other - you tend to remember a face from a century ago, and may cross paths unexpectedly when pursuing their own goals. The game changes according to the players, and will feature intense drama, brutal action, romance, historical settings and centuries old grudges.

The essence of immortality

Immortality is unique for each and every undying person. They can never age, get sick or die. Their bodies can repair themselves when they are injured, given the right conditions. Obtaining Immortality is a path that can never be successfully taken again by another mortal.

The difficulty in immortality is blending in with the mortal world and hiding your death-defying nature. Once ordinary humans are aware of immortals they will try to emulate their path to beating death, and when that fails an immortal's survival rate drops significantly in front of an angry mob.

Longer lives makes everything seem smaller and and smaller as the years tick by. The life of a mortal could end with blink of an eye, while the grudge of another immortal could last forever.

[HEADING=3]Sheets and Rules[/HEADING]

Name: Check for potential naming traditions please

Gender: Self-explanatory

Race: Please describe

Appearance: Includes physical appearance, apparent age and clothing

Equipment: What they carry with them, includes weapons if your character makes a habit out of carrying one

Personality: How they act, what are they like to other people

Unique Immorality: The reason your character is immortal. Anything that comes to mind can do, really - ascension to godhood, mutations, alchemy, child of an Immortal etc...

Disposition: Their skills and flaws, likes and dislikes, attitudes to the world and other immortals etc

Bio: Their life story, brief please

1. As Game Master (GM) whatever I say goes, these rules may change in the RP due to changing circumstance; if they do you will be notified.

2. No god-moding or god-modding. The former is having your character acting like they are a god who can do anything, the latter is taking control of other people's characters. Both are forbidden.

3. Don't stray too far from the current objective without my permission, if you have a sub-plot or an idea that you want to do then I'm very happy to accommodate that but please PM me first so we can arrange how it'll fit in with the over-arching plot.

4. Posts must be two and a half lines minimum and you must wait for someone-else to post before you can post again. Please keep all posts grammatically correct, all thoughts in italics and do not use cap-locks or bold.

5. Absolutely no OOC posts in the main thread once the RP begins, there will be a user-group for that.

6. If there comes a time where there is a player vs. player combat, then both players must agree beforehand how the fight will go. If agreement cannot be reached, consult me and I'll make a judgement one way or the other.

7. Romance and/or implied sex is fine, however nothing explicit in the thread please, take it to PM if you must. Since racism, sexism and other prejudice exist in the real world and especially in the past, they are allowed in this RP as long as it's in-character only, anything directed at the players themselves rather than the characters they play will be punished severely.

8. Treat other players with respect and have fun!

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

So does this start at the end of your other rp?
EDIT: Actually no. It will jump from different time-periods, from the Ikko-Ikki Rebellion in Japan, to the travals of Marco Palo, to whatever exciting time period will suit the RP.

I'll say that since the last one was starting to get a bit cluttered, this one was made. It should also be more friendly to new prospective players.

OT: I'll have the sheet up soon.

Well, here's my sheet:

Name: Cadeyrn of the Durotriges

Gender: Male

Race: Fae (adopted)

Appearance: At just over four foot tall and weighing in at around sixty two pounds, to the casual observer Cadeyrn appears to be just an average nine year old boy with messy dark brown hair and slightly chubby cheeks. His bright blue eyes are full of mischief and he is rarely seen sitting still, or without a cheeky grin. He moves nimbly, albeit with the odd clumsy mistake one would expect of a growing child.

He doesn't care much about his clothing, it is always in the style of the time period for discretion and usually rumpled and worn. Though rarely seen, he has a tattoo of a triskelion on the right side of his chest to mark his tribal affiliation and a gold trinket from his past around his neck that he is highly attached to.

Equipment: Cadeyrn rarely carries much of anything, preferring to make do with what he can find, or steal, from his surroundings. In some earlier periods he carried a dagger at times for self-protection, in later times he has been known to use fake passports and identities.

Personality: A sharp and wily spirit, Cadeyrn doesn't tend to form close relationships with other people, preferring to treat interactions as an opportunity to improve his lot, or for his own entertainment. He will usually only help someone-else if he thinks there is something in it for himself. There is little Cadeyrn hates more than being ordered around by another person, mortal or otherwise. He doesn't usually make long term plans, going along with whatever he feels like doing at that particular time.

Unique Immortality: Cadeyrn was born to the Durotriges tribe of southern Britain and as an infant abandoned in a forest by his parents, unable to feed another mouth. He was chanced upon by a kind fae of the Seelie Court who as their people often did, took the foundling to her own realm and began to raise him as her own. The young Cadeyrn grew up to be particularly mischievous however and as he grow older, got into worse and worse trouble. Eventually he was caught trying to steal the Queen of the Faeries' crown and brought before the royal court in disgrace. After his adopted mother's impassioned plea for mercy, the Queen banished the young spirit to walk the realms of men as an immortal until the end of days, or whenever he learnt the error of his ways, whichever came first. Until that time, he would be forbidden from returning to the land of the Fae, and from using their magic he had learned.

Disposition: Cadeyrn loves nothing more than games and tricks, especially playing the latter on unsuspecting mortals. When he first encountered humans, he despised them for his abandonment as an infant and again as a returnee to the mortal world but over the years his dislike has mellowed into apathy. He doesn't wish any particular harm on humanity but nor does he care about their troubles, he tends to just sees them as slow livestock to be exploited for food and entertainment. He does take great care to avoid local law enforcement, and increasingly in later time periods, child protection services. He has somewhat more respect for his fellow immortals and is friendly to some degree or another with most of them, but still has an ingrained distrust of even most immortals, with a few exceptions.

Bio: After Cadeyrn was banished from the Otherworld, he returned to his birth tribe and attempted to reintegrate with humanity. It became quickly clear that he was no better fit for his indigenous people than the fae, rumours quickly spreading about alleged misdeeds and wicked spells. Once this broiled over he made himself scarce and travelled across Britain, spitefully attacking ordinary people from the shadows and causing trouble whenever they were looking the other way. Eventually after some years his rage was utterly spent and he returned to living around the Durotriges, keeping away for the most part and only occasionally helping from the sidelines. He gained a better reputation as a mercurial spirit who would nevertheless cause no real harm, as long as you left out some food or a gift for him every now and again.

Sometimes offerings would not be taken for months on end and the tribal people assumed Cadeyrn had gone back to the other side during those times. What they did not realise is that he had in fact discovered the wonders of continental Europe and within a few decades regularly visited Rome and other great Mediterranean cities whenever he tired of the British weather. It would be on one of those trips to city of Romulus that Cadeyrn first encountered the mysterious Immortal's Club...

Feedback welcome as usual.

Name: Megaera, often adapts to different names for different times.

Gender: Female

Race: Gorgon (Greek)

Appearance: At night she is a stereotypical gorgon, a face ever so foul to look a,t with serpents for hair. Her body is of normal size, but with her tail included she is about 20ft long.

During the day her serpent hair turns to long blond flowing hair, and her face becomes the picture of youth and beauty. She stands at 5ft 5" and dresses in noble-woman's garments and jewelry of that time, yet always having an emerald pendant with a snake emblem. Age-wise she would seem to be early 20's. Her build would be medium-thin and curvy.

Equipment: She is an expert archer, carrying a magical bow. The bow requires no arrows and upon striking caused all but the most restless to fall into a deep sleep.

Personality: Ironically, as she has two sides to her being, she has two sides to her personality, yet both personalities can be seen in each form.
At times she is kind, very socially friendly and good natured. She pities mortals in troubles, and helps them without their knowledge.
At other times, she is cruel, self absorbed, and full of envy. She may lash out at any being for any reason, sometimes murdering a loved one or bringing an entire city to its knees.

Unique Immorality: Mysteriously born from Stheno, one of the three original Gorgon, she was blessed with the gift of immortality, yet cursed to live her life a monster.

Disposition: In both forms a master archer, having many years to hone her skills. In Gorgon form, the snakes on her head are venomous, and can poison even immortals. Petrification upon mortals if they look at her face. Blood from the left side of her body is a deadly poison. Blood from the right side of her body is a healing agent, rumored to be able to bring the dead back to life. Though she cannot die, her skin is not impervious to damage, you can separate her body parts.

She enjoys art in all forms especially ancient or historical pieces, especially those from ancient Greece. She greatly dislikes war between mortals, seeing it as pointless and a waste of mortal life and beauty. As far as other immortals go, she is indecisive to most, disliking those that cause her dislike and liking those her tend to create beauty and art. If there is an immortal who is very beautiful, she will become very jealous, due to the fact they are blessed with an immortal life in a beautiful form.

Bio: Born in the caverns beneath Mount Olympus, she spent her early years wondering and enjoying the various statues in the caverns. Statues of animals, especially those of humans and beautiful women. Eventually she began to venture outside of the cave, observing the human's in various cities and towns, often accidentally turning them to stone.

All her life she wished to be able to be a part of that life, and so she did what many did at that time, she called for divine intervention. When calling the gods it seemed to fall upon deaf ears. Truth is most gods had no respect for the Gorgen, and wanted nothing to do with her plee. There was, however, one god who eventually answered her call, Hades, God of the Underworld.

Due to advances in healthcare in the cities, Hades was looking for a solution, and proposed a deal. He would grant her beauty beyond imagination, the complete opposite of her current self, for the duration of the suns ascension, in return, as the sun was down she would remain in her Gorgon state, and do as Hades commanded. It was a deal struck in blood, and one that the Gorgon accepted immediately.

During her time as a human, she fell in love with a nobleman and continued the deeds during the night. When Hades decided she must take the life of her lover, she had no choice, choosing to take his life during the day to spite the God. Then running from Greece in an attempt to escape from Hades command. Now she lives the life of a noblewoman, hiding her true self from those she knows, and internally battling between her two inner selves.

Also interested, hoping to have something up soon.

Name: Aurel Metzger
Gender: male
Race: Human, Germanic

Appearance: Neat and unyielding, looks about 30. He is little over 6 foot, with trim build. Fair, with tightly cropped blonde hair, and clean shaven. He's attractive enough, in a stern, angular sort of way. Is very particular about tidiness, and dresses accordingly.
Metzger presents himself in a very controlled way - stiff, precise movements, avoiding flamboyant gestures or restless mannerisms.

Equipment: Depending on the circumstances, may carry a doctor's bag with some basic components, notes and other medical equipment, including surgical tools. When appropriate, he possesses a revolver or pistol, but otherwise is not usually armed.

Personality: To most, Metzger comes across as composed and efficient, but also cold, strict, and with little in the way of a sense of humour. Not overtly unfriendly, but doesn't seek out close relationships either. Not one for small talk, but will debate for hours with somebody who's got something interesting to say.

Unique Immortality: As an avid scholar of human physiology, the secret to eternal life (and health) was always Metzger's goal. This ambition was reached in the end not through any medical breakthrough, but via occult rituals and worship of the local pagan gods. Through naivete or perhaps just recklessness, Metzger struck an enthusiastic bargain with a particularly capricious demon - immortality in exchange for his loyalty and servitude. He doesn't regret the arrangement per se, but it's hard not to feel some resentment when you're beholden to the demands of a malevolent diabolical patron who holds the threat of eternal torture over your head.

Metzger has immunity to physical sickness and the effects of aging, but still heals at a normal human rate if injured.

Bio: Metzger was born in a dismal, barren pocket of what the Roman invaders would eventually call Germania. Life in his village was hard - if the rival tribes didn't get you, the wasting sickness would. Always having had a strong instinct for self-preservation, Metzger quickly realised that his chances of long-term survival would improve if his job was to stitch his kinsmen back together after they returned from their raids and expeditions, rather than joining them. He was rather skilled in this regard - some of them even lived. He complemented his knowledge of anatomy and rudimentary physiology with studies of the occult - the boundaries between life, death and the supernatural were very thin, according to local folklore. That said, it had still been a shock when his summoning ritual actually worked.

Immortality and permanent good health came at the price of following any and all orders given by the demon, to whom Metzger typically refers as his master or patron. These commands vary from thefts and assassinations to destabilising governments. There is no apparent indication as to what these tasks might eventually accomplish, and Metzger learned early on that refusal or attempted escape from the contract was a very bad idea.

When not being sent off somewhere to appease his master's whim, Metzger is usually either learning under one of the greatest minds of the time, or running a small medical practice. He moves every few years to avoid unwanted questions and/or unruly mobs, but has mostly stayed within Europe.

Happy to make any changes, also very open to setting up possible alliances or rivalries.

Edited - now pre-Roman

Meztger has immunity to physical sickness and the effects of aging, but still heals at a normal human rate if injured.

Bio: Metzger had the good fortune to be born into a wealthy family in the then-prosperous town of Schadel, in what would a few centuries later fall under the blanket of the Holy Roman Empire. Disease was rampant in such times, with explanations ranging from an imbalance of bodily humours to demonic possession. Theories about life, death and immortality had significant overlap with the forbidden practices of witchcraft and devil-worship, so it was a small step for the inquisitive and ambitious young doctor to move from bloodletting and herbal tinctures to attempting to contact demons. Which, unfortunately, was successful.

Immortality and permanent good health came at the price of following any and all orders given by the demon, to whom Metzger typically refers as his master or patron. (Research into feudal Germany consists of 3 seconds looking at maps on wikipedia and playing Crusader Kings for a bit)
.
I love Crusader Kings 2. Paradox fills up my niche very nicely.

The RP takes place anytime after the newest immortal becomes a member of the club. It means that if you're accepted as you were, we could not stage arcs in the classical era, since you could not participate. See if you could slightly rewrite your character to fit with an older date of "birth". I'll guess you took some inspiration from Faust.

Otherwise the character is great. The perpetual need to follow orders can create many opportunities for chaos to ensue, which will be interesting to write.

I like it a lot. It gives playing your character an added challenge of disappearing into the night, which will require some clever planning. The duality of the character may be hard to portray 'right', but I trust you'll deliver.

Name: Naditabirus

Gender: Female

Race: She is from Babylon, and is human. She calls herself a Lich though.

Appearance: Naditabirus does not take good care of herself. Her skin is pale due to a lack of sun exposure, she is gaunt due to malnutrition and she has those dead kind of eyes that look through you rather than at you. She is mid sized for a female, standing at 5?7. She seems to be in her late 20?s or early 30?s at the most, which is fairly reasonable considering the lifespan of people in her time.

Naditabirus wears dour clothing that helps her blend in to society. She doesn?t like making a scene until it?s time to make a scene. This means blending in with the crowd until the time is right. She does own a few traditional Babylonian garbs, but they are close to being a simple mess of rags now, and she is more likely to be seen in whatever is contemporary.

Equipment: Depending on the time, she is usually carrying some sort of weapon for self defense, and is often quite good at using whatever it is she is carrying. If we are far enough into the present, she will also carry a briefcase full of different sedatives. Naditabirus has labs set up around the planet which are her hideaway places. They contain almost everything she owns and each one often serves a different purpose.

Personality: Naditabirus doesn?t really like people. Immortal people. Mortals are fine, interesting and usually at least somewhat fun to talk to. Immortals are too busy forgetting their lives for Naditabirus to bother talking to them. She hates most of them in secret and prefers to act alone as opposed to sticking with the group. She does keep up appearances though and rarely ever misses a meeting.

Unique Immorality: Nobody knows how Naditabirus became immortal. It?s probably her best kept secret and she has ensured that nobody knows the real answer. People speculate, sure. But in reality it seems that any and all evidence of her past life has been erased. Some people speculate that Naditabirus was just born immortal, others say it has something to do with her ?Lichdom?, though she has never actually used magic in front of anyone. Others believe that she simply researched a way to become immortal. It?s not clear and most people have given up on knowing.

Disposition: Naditabirus is expertly educated, and is typically on the forefront of scientific knowledge in the group. Whether it comes to surgery, chemistry, physics, astronomy and any other field of science, Naditabirus knows at least a bit about what?s new in the field. Because of her tendency to travel, Naditabirus also is trained in a variety of weapons, though usually she prefers ranged doodads that help her stay talking.

Naditabirus loves researching anything and everything around her. If she hasn?t seen a thing, she will probably disappear to look at it for the next few years. She is also famously willing to throw other immortals under the bus to achieve her aims. There are campfire stories told by some immortals about what Naditabirus does, specifically what happens if you end up ?on her table?. Most immortals who have been on it don?t remember, but at least a few do. Non-humans especially are wary around Naditabirus due to her tendency to cut into people.

Bio: Great cities often rise and fall, especially in Mesopotamia. Nowhere is this more true than the ancient city of Babylon, Naditabirus? own home. She claims to have lived in Babylon, and in fact often cites a few different areas that she would spend her off hours in. The ancient city does not remember her though. Any and all evidence that Naditabirus ever lived there is gone now. All that now remains is the laughter of a mad immortal that she buried in its ruins centuries ago. Some say if you ask him he will tell you all about Naditabirus, nobody has given that rumor any credence though, likely because dealing with Fromanzio is the last thing anyone wants.

Naditabirus has famously lost her moral compass over the years. Being one of the oldest immortals has taken its toll on her sanity and while she is often cool and collected, she can very easily get unhinged. To put it simply, Naditabirus is obsessive, uncompromising, standoffish and violent at the best of times. Nobody is able to remember what the worst of times means, and nobody has really wanted to figure out what the worst of times might mean. Naditabirus often flies in the face of the club?s rules, revealing her immortality to mortals and creating cults to herself wherever she goes. Nobody has stepped in to stop her because it?s just not an urgent issue right now. The fact is that Naditabirus is good at figuring out which rules to break, and while she is always on the edge of being locked up in a box and buried with Fromanzio, she is still walking today, and likely will continue walking that edge into the future.

Who wants presents?

What? I don't know anything about no Faust. There never was a Faust. You're crazy...

I wasn't sure how early you were going to start it - I'll have a think and back date it a bit.

Edit - updated the bio, shaved off a millennium or so.

I've finally got around to transferring this sheet. I had to adjust some bits for how he actually acted in the previous RP.

<spoiler=Shenshen of Ur>
Name: Shenshen of Ur
Gender: Male
Race: Human/Sumerian

Unique Immortality: As legend goes, a long time ago there lived a man called Shenshen. He was a very good bowmen. So much so that he boasted that he could hit the sun at it's peak. Utu, the sun god's pride was enraged by this insult and dared the hunter to touch him in his zenith. If he couldn't Utu would release the dead from the underworld and have him killed. Shenshen was shaken by this and decided to cheat. He waited for Utu at the entrance of the underworld until Utu rose from judging the dead. There Shenshen hit Utu with a small nail that caught on Utu's helmet. It went unnoticed until his Zenith where Utu challenged Shenshen to touch his godly form with any gross human instrument. Shenshen however taunted Utu and challenged him to remove his helmet. Utu then saw the small nail embedded within. In his rage he burned Shenshen's home and everyone within. His full rage was reserved for Shenshen. When it came for Shenshen be judged in the underworld, Utu as punishment threw Shenshen out of the underworld and into the world of the living, barring him from death.

From then on Shenshen has wandered the earth, outliving even the forgotten God who cursed him.

Appearance: Physically, Shenshen looks like a somewhat tired, but unremarkable 30 year old man. He stands at a height of 180cm and he has dark hair, brown eyes and a slightly rough face.

Shenshen's clothing, no matter the period in history, has always been somewhat dated. The period's where Shenshen has taken care of his appearance are few and far between, and due to his lifestyle his clothes are always in a somewhat woebegone state.

Equipment: As an eternal vagabond, Shenshen has few possession, preferring to keep only what he can carry. As an archer, Shenshen normally carries ranged weapons, although he is also skilled with most weapons. His equipment differ, depending on the time and area.

Disposition: As a 'young' man, Shenshen was a prideful and fierce fighter and could always be found in the middle of a conflict or period of upheaval in history. A fervent idealist and possessing a strong sense of 'order', Shenshen has always been an eager, if somewhat harsh enforcer of immortal laws. However with 'age', Shenshen has mellowed out, and while Shenshen is still an ardent believer in the importance of the law, he has become more lenient vis a vis the rest of the club and tries to maintain cordial relationships with his fellows. However, he still despises immortals who have lost their humanity and remains a tough enforcer.

Shenshen's near senility has probably also been a big contributor for this change, and the old immortal normally travels in a daze, mixing up time and era.

His drive to better the lot of the 'mortals' has more often than not ended in failure, and after overcoming the despair of his condition, Shenshen eventually took a position of interested distance. While he is fond of mortals, he is more often than not confused by the rapid changes that their society goes through.

Personality: Shenshen is a somewhat pleasant, if hesitant and confused immortal. He often switches from names to nicknames he has for other immortals and often lapses into reminiscence. Shenshen's relative naivety outside of combat is apparent in his dealing with others.

However, this was not always the case. Many immortals still remember Shenshen as a cold-blooded hunter.

Bio: Shenshen is a particularly old immortal and has traveled across most of the world, making enemies and friends of immortals and mortals alike. He has seen the rise and fall of Assyrians and Babylonians, the old and new Egyptian Kingdoms and countless other great empires and has fought the likes of Dracula and Jack the Ripper. However, it's rare that he remembers most of his life in a coherent fashion and much of his memories have been lost to the sands of time. He has even forgotten the face of his father and mother.

Shenshen would be devastated by this pathetic state of affairs if his mind wasn't already half-gone.

The fix works well and the sheet is fine. No further notes.

If the events happen some two thousand years before the previous game, would Shenshen still be senile?

I didn't think of that.

Well Sumeria could have dated from around 5500 BCE, so 2000 years more less might not do that much of a difference. I've changed the sheet a bit to say that he was much more fanatical in earlier times, if that helps. Something like the Shenshen Drmigit used in their flashback.

This seems really interesting and if your taking new characters I'd like in.

I'm just wondering what time period we are playing in and how far forward/back in time our characters can be from.

I'd like to cover Classical, so anything in that period or earlier will work.

This sounds like a really interesting RP Iron Ruler, when are you thinking of starting it?

I'm on a very intensive training course at the moment, so at the moment I can not commit to doing an RP, but my course ends next Saturday and afterwards I'll be as free as a bird.

I'll start the game when there are enough players ready for action. I haven't decided on a starting date for the game yet. I'm still waiting for more escapists to sign up.

I'm tempted to join, but are non-humans allowed?

My Immortal is a pokemon, of all things

Name: Sasha

Gender: female

Race: Eevee/Umbreon

Appearance: As an Eevee, Sasha has silvery-white fur and red eyes; as an Umbreon, she keeps her white fur but gains blue rings on her forehead, legs, tail and ears

Equipment: n/a

Personality: Affectionate, teasing and tries her best to get along with everyone, but her sense of humor takes some getting used to

Unique Immorality: She was granted immortality by the God of her world, but she is forbidden to ever return there (Not that she ever listens...)
Also has the ability to "Save" her life at any point, so that if she is killed, she merely respawns from her last save point, with all prior knowledge retained; however, this doesn't reset time every time she dies, so if she hasn't saved in a while, she might respawn at a location far away from where she died

Disposition: Sasha has the unique ability to control nearly any kind of elemental force
However, she has a crippling fear of fire, as it brings back terrible memories
She rarely gets upset, but when she does, there's rarely anything left standing by the time she finishes venting

Bio: Sasha was born a regular Eevee, but after meeting Arceus, she was granted immortality, the ability to temporarily transform into an Umbreon and was given the ability to hop from one dimension to the next. During her travels, she discovered quite a few interesting ones she likes to go back to and play around in them.

Heres an exploratory sheet. Please let me know what needs tweeking.

Name: Okonkwo "Obe" Sanogo

Gender: Male

Race: Malian (Black)

Appearance: Okonkwo is a solidly build 6 ft (182cm) tall and appears to be in his 40s. He keeps a beard and wears the business apparel of the place he is in. He's partial to gold and tends to wear as much as is tactful. Seemingly always smelling of mint, Okonkwo keeps a himself, his beard, and his clothing in excellent condition.

Equipment: Okonkwo tends to carry a few scrolls/books in a briefcase/satchel and some writing tools. Upon the invention of the thermos he generally has one full of mint tea. He owns a Sword/Gun (whatever fits the time) but rarely carries them.

Personality: Okonkwo comes off as polite and cultured, only opening up to his friends.

Unique Immorality: Okonkwo's immortality came from a freak accident. he was struck by lightning while holding several vials of inks and medicines.

While immune to illnesses, Okonkwo heals from injury at at a normal rate.

Disposition: Okonkwo is a friendly, scholastic man who seems to know a little about everything but specializes in architecture, spending large amounts of his free time keeping current on construction methods.

Bio: After a brief stent as a Lancer in the Malian Army, Okonkwo became an architect in Timbuktu, keeping busy building libraries for wealthy families. During one of his building projects he was struck by lighting while carrying several vials of ink and medicine, giving him immortality much unbeknownst to him. He suspected something was odd when his 60th birthday didn't include gray hair or body aches. Leaving Timbuktu, Okonkwo traveled the world seeking knowledge in all its forms, sometimes taking jobs as a professor or architect to when money becomes tight.

Okonkwo also has an affinity for beasts of burden, mint tea, and foreign languages. He spent a large amount of time in Rome (if thats a thing yet) where he developed a love of swimming and bathing.
