Also, I'd make the side quests more interesting. I usually think the side quests are the best part of the game in most rpgs but these just felt bland and unimaginative. Just the same mission over and over again.
Care to elaborate on that one? I cant really see how saving a diplomat from exmtremists, assassinating three crime lords from a gang, and being sent to disarm a crashed nuclear probe, only to find even more problems when you get there as being the same mission "over and over". They are just three examples mind you, but still, I figured they were different enough each time.

As for your point about the lifts, while it is a fair one, I personally got a lot of enjoyment out of the news reports that play during the rides, often times covering your exploits, and even talking about your character specifically sometimes.

I'll tell you what they can fix, those slowass fucking elevators. I swear to god those things annoyed the hell out of me. It's the future and we have to ability to travel across the galaxy but we can't figure out how to make elevators go faster.
Those were supposed to fill in the loading times required to get the next part of the world off the DVD and into memory... but yeah, there has to be a less frustrating way to do that.

As for those wanting some continuity between ME and ME2, well, I just found this article in the Globe and Mail [http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080325.wgtmasseffect0325/BNStory/Technology/home] saying that it's possible for ME2 to read what story branches you took in the first game... so you may indeed get your wish granted.

Just remembered my main wish for ME2: Change the damn music that plays while you look at the galaxy map. It was like twice as loud as the average voice and music volumes in the game and was annoying and repetitive.

Better inventory management.
Read off my save file.
Better vehicle sections.
Tone down the shotgun (seriously, there's no point having an assault rifle, as leveling up the shotgun would allow you to have a shotgun with assault rifle range).
Better side-missions
yea i agree with ya on that the side missions on the first Mass effect were okay but not that good. but they need to improve more side missions there is just not enough!

Your choice in voice.

This may sound strange, but imagine trying to play a black / hispanic looking main character, and having the same default 'white person' voice coming out of it's mouth. It gets strange after a while and unplayable a little bit after that. A set of three, at the least, separate voices for each gender would be nice.

I'd like a feature that makes gamers learn how ME is intended to be played, rather than assuming their personal shortcomings and failures are the game's fault.

I'd like see the shadows fixed and making it more interesting to go across two thousand galaxies/loading screens to get to a star system to kill npcs with no real significance to the plot who have no recorded words.

After getting the game and waiting for mod tools to fix the bloody inventory screen - here is what I'll ask for that mods can't fix.

1. I agree and disagree with "More Populated Planets" - I think we should have the ability to land on Earth, and then do whatever, and then maybe visit 1 or 2 colonies that aren't part of the main quest - but lots of fully populated planets just sounds like too much, not to mention that it's harder on the devs. I do agree completely with LESS Barren planets though, not only is most of it copy and paste but searching those anomalies and surveying minerals are just completely boring and on a second playthrough you are tempted to just open up the console and cheat since you are sick of surveying crap.

2. More dialog options, and make them less "vague" - The dialog choice usually said something similiar to what the choice was but sometimes it just gave you a completely unexpected reaction such as...oh..punching someone in the face.

--Make those sidequests have a bigger impact in the game, all those dialog options, all those sidequests, all those "tough choices" and for what? XP and Renegade or Paragon points? I was hoping I'd see some characters come back and tell me that I really helped them out or vice versa, but once a quest was over, it was over. Also it would be nice if you could solve things without relying so much on Renegade and Paragon for intimidate and such, half the fun is trying to pick the right choices so you can get out of a tough situation, instead of just picking charm and intimidate each time.

3. Use my previous save file and see what "major" choices have an impact on. I'll use the least spoilerific example here, but for instance, if you helped out on Feros - then we should see a much better and more flourishing colony in ME 2, and if not, then I guess you would see improvement, but very little.

YES!!! Man, I created like, 4 characters and each time I started playing, the voice didn't fit them at all - I've had better luck with Female Characters but on the Male Characters I just picked the default character because the voice just didn't fit.

1. Upgrade item icons should make sense - I still don't know what those icons are supposed to mean.
2. No switching between types of upgrades. It's irritating to have to select the other icon to upgrade a different section of the same item. Why not just select the item you want to upgrade, and all f the upgrade options come in a list? What's with the two sides of an upgrade? It unnecessary menu madness.
3. Unequippable items should not show up in a character's personal inventory.
4. NPC character tracking on the mini-map would be nice - especially with a side story related character.
5. Stores should have better descriptions of items. When you are looking at inventory from a seller - how about being able to compare it to what you already have? I have to step out of negotiations and look in my inventory in order to know whether I need to buy something.
6. Don't assume we have ESP - I don't know whether my crew is fit for a mission, because I don't know what I will be facing! Give me some kind of hint about who I should be taking. There were many misions where all of the side characters gave Shepard a reason to go with him - how can I make a decision with that kind of dialog???
7. Better rewards for missions. Come on some of the rewards you get are just not worth it.
8. Better Mako combat. The technique I use that works 100% of the time is to back up until the Mako is barely peeking over a ridge, rock or hill. I almost never get damaged. It's so easy it's boring.
9. Ship combat. I almost thought for sure there was going to be ship combat - alas, there isn't. Would have made the game even better if there was.
