I would recommend getting (or at least trying) Mount & Blade: Warband. Its demo is a pretty good representation of the game, even if it is unpatched (they've tweaked a bunch of stuff in the legitimate version).

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm pretty sure its PC only.

You said you mostly play xbox, but if you have ps3 'Demon's Souls' is definitely worth acquiring. It's the most challenging game I've played in years and allows up to 8 replays (and believe me you WILL re-play the game), in which you start over with all the skills and gear you've acquired in your last play-through, but increasing in difficulty each time with new plot twists/options.

Absolute winner of a game!

If you have a PC that can run Source games pretty well, I'd suggest Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I don't like the pen and paper game it is based on, but loved this game.

Try out the new Deus Ex. It has a hint of BioWare in it.

That is, of course, if you don't mind a first/third person shooter rpg hybrid.
Where's the bioware hint?
The dialogue/slightly branching story.

I have played and immensely enjoyed Baldur's Gate 2.

Oh! I've actually really been wanting to play The Witcher 2 - it looked like something I would really enjoy. My laptop though is a piece, so I'm excited to hear it's coming out for 360. And I am currently saving up for Skyrim, I'm just in college and poor so I was looking more for older games.

I didn't know Jade Empire was on XBLA! I'll definitely look into that.

Dues Ex II looks interesting, and I quite like shooter providing they have rpg elements, but since it's so new I can't really afford it at the moment. I'll have to wait for a price drop.

A lot of my friends have been trying to goad me into minecraft, but I'm not sure if it's really my thing... It's also an alarmingly large time sink for some of them.

Persona 4 also looks like something I would enjoy, as does Planetscape Torment.

Note: I currently only have an Xbox 360, as my ex broke my ps2 and stole my gamecube... (I was also in the middle of KotOr, of which he had two copies, but he refused to lend me one of them.) Also my computer is a bootcamped mac... so it's not exactly prime for gaming besides emulating older games or playing light indie games.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I had just made my sixth character in Dragon Age: Origins when realized I really needed something new.
