Just so you know, they actually are giving away free games.
Erm, so does Steam. Most recently (as in last week), they had Sniper Elite V2 free for grabs.
Never said Steam didn't. But V2 was (unless I'm mistaken) made free by the devs rather than as part of any kind of Steam deal.

Steam does offer free trials of games for days at a time, but once the time's up you can't play it anymore. With the Origin deal, the game's yours for good.
Origin only does that because EA is the publisher of all those games. Plus, Valve itself sometimes just gives a free game, not a trial, but a full-on game - like L4D2 or Portal.
Also Red Orchestra was free recently.
And anyway, everybody knows GOG is the champion of free games. Thanks to it I got Duke3D, Fallout games, Guilty Gear X2 and Dungeon fucking Keeper.

Now can we please quit fucking whining about Steam store getting an influx of not-AAA games? Yeah, there's a lot of shovelware. There's also a lot of hidden gems and great games arriving. It's a free market, you can't have one without the other. Shovelware is not the problem, lack of refund is.

But I don't have the game. Seriously, are you keeping track of what I already said at all? I don't have it because I can't buy the DLC with the game. I can't buy the DLC with the game, because I need to install the client to get the DLC and the game together in one go. But I don't want to do that, because I want the game with the DLC first. Which, since I can't acquire through the website in one go, I don't want to bother with.
I wasn't going to get involved here, but... https://social.bioware.com/page/me3-dlc
You can buy the ME3 dlc's on that website.
I am going to blow your mind right now: I KNOW! And you know what I STILL DIDN'T BUY THE GAME. Are my words Myst riddles or something? How, in Hastur's name, is "I CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO BUY THE GAME IF I CAN'T DO IT IN ONE PLACE" so hard to process? I am really starting to wander - Jiffex seemed to have to grapple with the concept for a while to spit it back at me as if it's something new when THIS IS THE SAME THING I AM SAYING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. And now here you are.

I use words. In English. I assume it is a language people here understand, or at least understand well enough to not keep missing what I've REPEATEDLY SAID when they engage me in a conversation.

I dunno, let's see if using CAPITAL LETTERS TO EMPHASIZE KEY POINTS is enough for people TO READ THOSE POINTS AND NOT FORGET THEM IMMEDIATELY AFTER.

Must admit I didn't really read your posts after it seemed that you were just ragging on origin for some arbitrary reason.
The options are there. Your objections are insignificant at best, "first-world problem" scale at worst.

Now, are you prepared for me to blow your mind?
If you follow the links on the website I posted, you will find that you will actually be redirected to origin.com to handle your payment.
That'll fix the issue with minimizing the amount of websites where you'll have to insert your cc details, which is the only reason I could think of why someone would be so worried or apprehensive about having to visit two different, but legitimate and trustworthy, webpages.
Or is there another reason for you being so uncooperative about this?

Hold your horses! You are trying to insult me for being mildly apathetic about a game? Oh, my gods! Moreover, you are trying to dismiss my "objections" as insignificant, when they were nothing more than a mild sigh? Your words cut deep. Truly.

Or could it be because...it's too much hassle? I don't know where I got the idea to say that, it's almost as if I REPEATED IT SEVERAL TIMES. I may not even be pleasant in the next post that SHOWS CLEAR LACK OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

What's to be uncooperative about? I shared my view on Origin and then had to REPEAT IT over and over again because people read it and fail to comprehend simple English at best, actively misinterpret it at worse.

Oh, and you're going to love this - I went to the BioWare website, logged into my Origin account, pressed "Buy" on one of the DLC and the frame just went blank boom [http://i.imgur.com/gfTDlFg.png]. That's it - I'm done here. I might give ME3 a try again some time. Dunno - maybe.

Steam is just dishing out tons and tons of shovelware, allowing garbage to get past its nonexistent garbage filter, and just sit there and watch you take it. Every week another pre-alpha game in "early access" finds its way to the front page, or some godawful game from 10 years ago randomly emerges. Yuck.
The bolded part is where i agree with you, they really should do more testing on what is actually being put into their store to prevent a unplayable mess like The War Z to slip though.

Nobody forces you to buy shovelware and old games though
