OK, so, women enjoy FPS + Story. Doesn't everyone like FPS + Story? To me it doesn't sound like women gamers are that much different than male gamers, it just sounds like they are just more picky. "What women gamers like" and "Why some women never become gamers" are two really different questions. Again, maybe I'm just hanging out with a bunch of Martian women and Venusian men, but why is no one asking why some men never become gamers? After all, "The majority of gamers are men" is not the same statement as "The majority of men are gamers." I mean, if the game industry is trying to expand its customer base, examining the difference between gamers and non-gamers would probably be more productive than trying to sift through all the cultural garbage heaped up around the concept of What Women Like.

Also, this "Women like FPS as long as there is a good story" is a statement I first saw about a decade and a half ago, except then it was "porn" instead of "FPS."

This is probably not the place for me to trot out my opinions re: What women like in porn.

My wife once told me "I've never really watched a pornographic movie. I mean, other than just some snatches..."

I laughed so hard I think a lung actually escaped my body for a brief period of time. I also learned that if you're laughing really, really hard, you can be struck quite vigorously without really feeling it.

These 'female gamer' threads are very silly. There is nothing special about female gamers. The average gamer is female, and the average internet user is also female, it's the men who are the odd ones out. True. We need more 'male gamer' threads so we can study this rare, dying species. I don't understand why men play MMORPGs at all, most men are socially underdeveloped and therefore lacking in the kind of skills neccessary to excel at an MMORPG. Personally, I don't think men even exist on the internet at all. All the women are women, all the men are women, and all the kids are the FBI. Isn't that what all the drones say?

There is something special about all females (and it can be a lot of fun finding it.)

And don't listen to drones. Drones hang around without a job, waiting for their one chance to mate. Then they die. Hardly a good role model. At least the human equivalent gets to live in his mom's basement eating pizza and playing cool video games while waiting.
