Ill just use some certain tech that i decided to keep at the end of ME 2
It seems like every character in the game as well as the game itself (renegade points) wants you to make the other decision. In real life the choice that you made is the obviously correct one, but the hints that it will backfire are just so unsubtle.

I actually hope that ME3 is a no win scenario. That no matter what Shepard does, the reapers win.
That could be really gripping and bittersweet if done right. And then it flashes ahead 50,000 years to show that for all of the resistance Shepard put up, no one can break the cycle.
They did that in Starcraft 2, and it was awesome.

I know that were all exited about Mass Effect 3 (suck it Wii owners). The biggest question I have, is how you're going to destroy thousands of gigantic, laser firing,mecha-squids that are invading the Earth.

So, how do we blow them up? I believe we should just train Shepard to be a ninja and leave it at that.
Honestly?

I have no idea what Bioware has in mind, but truthfully I think the Reapers are kind of doomed at this point.

The thing to understand is that the Reapers were successful by seeding the galaxy with technology and this being able to determine exactly what they would be facing when they arrived since everything would be based on what they left behind. Their success being dependant on a surprise attack with overwhelming force, against what amounts to a
predictable enemy.

The differance being that a wrench has already been thrown into the gearworks so to speak. Sovreign was defeated, and even if most of the galaxy doesn't really acknowlege the Reaper threat, technology from that ship was recovered and has been being put into service. The upgraded weapon you could put on the Normandy for example was mentioned as being based on
the technology recovered from Sovreign and worked on by Turians.

In the end when The Reapers attack they might have a bit of an advantage, but it won't be actual TOTAL surprise because people are at least aware of the possibility and thus will be able to adapt faster. What's more they are going to run into far more advanced weaponry than they normally do, having their own stuff being used on them. When one ship can take down a major battlefleet single handedly, it's obvious what a threat they represent, on the other hand when your going to be looking at ships using weapons that aren't just going to bounce off/disperse, the odds won't be anything quite like that anymore. Even if there are a LOT of Reapers, I just don't think they would win a protracted war at this point.

Losing earth "sucks" because after all this is a game played by humans, and it's our home planet. Like any major war, battles are going to be won and lost by both sides, the Reapers aren't going to just die out, and I'm sure lots of planets, many race's homeworlds, are going to wind up getting dusted.

That said, since this is a game about personal combat as opposed to fleet warfare, I'd imagine the basic set up is going to be one where these developments have bought the good guys time, but they are still losing, it's just The Reapers actually have to fight for once and are actually taking losses. There will probably be some big reveal about a Prothean super weapon that they developed but never got to deploy, and Shepard will go out to look for the day-saving macguffin on various planets while being hounded by enemy ground forces. The Protheans took a long view, and it's likely that those who believed they were the last were not nessicarly actually the last ones around. They might have left something behind to kill the reapers from beyond the grave (so to speak) just as they were leaving warnings. At the very least even if it isn't a giant "I win button" simply having the tech of that whole civilization plus the current civilizations and salvaged reaper tech would probably result in saving the day.

If they do it right I doubt there will be any "OMG, with one act we have wiped out all the Reapers, the universe is saved!".Though if they do go that root, I hope the final cinematic involves Shepard fleeing a base, apparently in the middle of the game, tripping over a power cord, and then all the reapers going dead as that cord was connecting their central AI relay core (or whatever technobabble you might want to use). At least it would be unexpected for once "WTF, all of this and all I had to do was unplug them?" (end credits roll).

During ME1 and 2 there have been a fair few options relating to verying races military strength

- Unifying the geth.

- Sparing the Rachni.

- Wrex's effect on krogan mentality + what you do with the genophage research done by Mordins old assistant.

- giving your view on how the Quarians use the largest fleet in citadel space (save it, use it to fight the Geth, etc)

- If the council die, turians cut there defence budget by about 80% of something.

And the list goes on.

I think it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we will end up doing a DA:O stye forming of a army for at least one act of the game and it all coming to a head in a climatic battle likely around earth.

I was thinking call in the Tau navy, but your idea works too.
The tau have already been brain washed once. No need to expose them to giant, brain washing cyborg ships.
Ah, but that's the point! They are already semi-brainwashed, so they can't be fully brainwashed by anyone or anything else.

That and they're combat pragmatists.

I have the idea of a war of attrition where you must outlast the reapers supplies with delaying and diversion tactics while either salvaging tech or destroying it so the reapers can't use it depending on Paragon or Renegade for when they find the last holdout the galaxy has and your Epic final battle happens.

Oh and the choice, destroy Earth (as in boom its gone and is never coming back) killing off most of humanity with it but causing massive damage to the main Reaper fleet attacking it by doing so, or save it at the cost of most of the other races fleets and defences saving most of humanity but weakening the rest of the galaxy.

I wrote it in a bit more detail but that was long (500 words o.0) , I can post it if people really want though saved it into word.

Send part of my crew on a real suicide mission to lure all the reapers into one area and blow them all to hell

They like to run away.

Against something like Reapers, you have to have some balls. And THATS where the Imperium comes in.

Right. Forgot. Combat pragmatism means knowing when to retreat.
It worked better in my head.

Wait, run away to where? If the Reapers are everywhere, wouldn't everyone have a stake in this? Do the Reapers own the Necrons or something? If they do, we have problems.

IMO:
Shepard won't be able to stop the Reapers, and in that respect, he will fail. He should instead focus on creating and storing a message for the next cycle of sentient life to discover.

He'll become the next 'Prothean', and will be revered by all life of the next cycle as their saviour.
The last playable mission should be somewhat similar to the end of Halo Reach, fighting a desparate, but futile last stand, made even more moving thanks to all your (remaining) allies going down fighting by your side. After your death, it should fade into a scene of the citadel, with strange races, speaking strange languages, and going about their day to day lives, the camera slowly panning up to a statue of your Shepard, implying his message worked, and broke the cycle after all.

That's how I imagine it anyway...

I just read all 5 pages to make sure no one had ninjaed me on this.

Ahem....

Harbinger: "You plan to destroy 1500 reapers with only four Daleks?"

Shepard: "No. I plan to destroy 1500 reapers with only ONE Dalek!"

Yes, recruiting the Daleks is obviously the hard part.

Edit: Whoopsie, that reaper is already dead. Fixed now.

I'm seeing Shepard's unique power against the Reapers being that the cybernetics he's using were developed outside of their mass-effect based technology (which would explain the massive amounts of money spent resurrecting him).

Of course, in the Overlord DLC he gets directly interfaced by the rouge A.I, but that's human technology interfacing with human-made cybernetics.

Anyway... there's probably weapons from the various races the Reapers wiped out during each Extinction cycle that individually could take out a reaper, but if all were recovered, could be used to barrage the Reapers.
Though, the example encountered in ME2 took out the planet used as a firing base via kinetic recoil... so I imagine they'll be a bit dodgy.

DUDE! Spoilers!

>.<

I haven't gotten Overlord yet... I DIDN'T WANT TO KNOW THAT

OT: Well, if you were nice to everyone in Mass effect 2 you theoretically have a few friends that wouldn't mind helping you out... I mean, Tali's people are supposed to have the largest fleet in the universe. Granted thats like having the biggest mobile home park in the universe but presumably they can put most of those to good use.

Well, Reapers are kind of like Necrons, after all.

They destroy all life, feeding it to create new Reapers (Instead of the C'tan, which just gorge on life). They're both as old as time, as far as anyone is concerned, and have ships that are many times more powerful then any equivalent race.

/shrug

It's a stretch.

Simple. Bring more Dakka than they do.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

but if we somehow managed to get the ork hordes to fight the reapers, it be taking out 2 birds with one stone. shit tons of orks die and their fleet is decimated, and no more reapers (nothing can beat the sheer numbers and dakka of orks. the only reason anyone wins against them is because the orks didnt bring enough boyz to the small fight).

they would probably wind up just crashing all of their ships into the reapers since their barriers would be too strong, but that just means we get to see a metric fuck ton of explosions! and who dosent like that at least a little?

Well, at least you convinced me to buy it I guess.
tbh Overlord was the only one of the DLCs I was considering passing on because it didn't seem to add much, now I guess I'm more inclined to buy it o.0

How? Easy.

Plot device and/or deus ex machina and/or conviently placed big red button of win (with escape sequence full of explosions and falling debris)
